Thereās such a problem within the Ride the Cyclone (and most other fandoms) with stereotyping characters.
For example, Noel. Heās bitter, into niche movies, snappy, and nervous. (Not to mention born in 1992)
Yet this fandom makes him a sassy Taylor Swift loving stereotypical gay man. Itās so tiresome. I believe in freedom to express and free of speech but some people in this fandom treat it like the truth, when itās built off of headcanons.
Mischa too, yes heās angry, and brass, but a LARGE part of his character is about his loveāhis love for his late mother, for Talia, for music, for love. Heās passionate while Noel is angry.
I believe that their title cards (if thatās the name) are switched, Noel has been seen and angry and bitter through the whole musical, whilst Mischa is seen as romantic and loving.

1. I think a lot of the fandom is guilty of seeing constance as just the ā sweet nice wholesome mom friend of the groupā when (to me at least) the whole point of Constance was that people thought she was this, was because the never bothered to get to know her past that .
2. In her monologue itās heavily hinted at that Constance was suffering with depression leading up to the cyclone.

Again nothing wrong with rp accounts / sharing your head cannons, just time and place guys
3. Look I get it plenty of the actors/ actresses that have been in rtc are attractive but some of yāall need to remember the characters themselves ARE CHILDREN
4. On the topic of the actors/ actresses some of yāall need to learn what boundaries are ļæ¼

Listen. I absolutely love ride the cyclone, Iāve been hyper fixatingon it for the past years now that being said Iāve seen more than enough productions to get my fair share of opinions on it
1. Real Ukrainian war footage in Talia
A. It feels in very poor taste at best and just strange up gross at worst to the situation at hand. I get it Mischaās Ukrainian and thatās a very important part to his character but that doesnāt mean you need to throw real war footage to the end of the song.
B. Talia and mischa story as a whole is tragic enough as is. You donāt need to add in the fact that on top of Talia possibly not even being real weāre now throwing in the possibility that she died in the war? It just seems like over kill to me.
2: Rickyās disability being written out of the script was really gross. Like I get it they wanted to avoid another yannick situation but this like the worst possible way to go about it
There probably more but Iāve been at this for like 2 hrs (Iām going to update this as things come to me so stay tuned)
Ride the cyclone doesnāt have any villains, oceans not a villain, karnaks not a villain, none of the choir are villains, father Marcus isnāt neither is virgil the rat! The closest thing the show has to a villain is the townspeople but Iāll get onto that later.
Ocean isnāt a villain because yes even though the protagonist can still be the villain she isnāt. Yes she does bad things before and during the musical but as it progresses she changes. An example of this is when earlier in the musical Ocean calls Jane a āfreaky monsterā but later on in the new birthday song she says ānot quite as scaryā showing her views on Jane had changed since the beginning! And at the end of the musical she choses Jane over herself to go back to life! Yes ocean is a terrible person but without that her picking Jane wouldnāt be as important. If ocean was lovely kind selfless girl picking Jane would be second nature to her but no the girl whoās song was about her going back, every conversation about votes going to vote for ocean realising that at the end she couldnāt vote for herself and that she could never do it. Iām not saying that what ocean said or did was acceptable it just doesnāt make her the villain.
Karnak also isnāt the villain because him being the villain would be controlling the choir completely, making them feel the pain of the accident, leaving them, not letting even one go back. Karnak did do questionable things controlling them but he didnāt do it for the entire music, he controlled them for their catchphrases and for the choreography of the songs. However he gives them all the chance to be brought back to life, gives them all hope, joins them together better and helps them accept their deaths. He spends the last hour and a bit of his life, knowing itās all the time he has left helping them. Karnak brings one of them back to life! And sounds regretful that he canāt bring them all back. Karnak isnāt the villain and is just trying to help the best he can especially since he most likely blames himself for the choir riding the cyclone.
Iām not gonna go over why the choir and virgil arenāt villains but Iāll briefly go over father Marcus. We know next to nothing about father Marcus to support him being a villain, we do know that we was a man who lived in a town without hospital and had a heart attack after the children he taught and most likely knew most of them as babies died on a roller coaster! Where one of the was beheaded! That is a completely normal reaction!
However if you still want a villain the townspeople are a perfect example. They are the ones labelling the choir and forcing them into their roles in town, each of the introductions show the uncaring nature towards the choir shown by the town and how it hurt them. The town are also the ones who labelled them as the āsix saintsā and stripped away any individuality they had. So if you want anyone to blame, blame the town.
Okay okay I need to talk about Ocean and Ricky and how they almost directly parallel each other- now you might be think "dingo you're crazy" or maybe you're rocking with the shit I'm dropping but wait as I explain because it's been eating away at me, it's all I can think about
SPOILERS AHEAD!

So I started thinking about this because of their conceding scenes. Let's break down Oceans first, now her "conceding" is more forced onto her by Karnak which she immediately rejects and goes into what the world needs right? A song that's just her being a dick, harping about her superiority. Now, stay with me, Ricky sings space age bachelor man, setting up his religion and character, just a silly song- right after he sings sabm he willingly concedes, why? The sole commandment of his religion, "don't be a dick" and the fact that if he voted for himself that would be the ultimate dick move. Ocean up to this point is shown to only be thinking of voting herself, her song was just her bragging and showboating while Ricky concedes for these exact reasons, he doesn't need to brag or parade around the fact that he's the best choice because he was never considered the best choice, yet he's content with the life he led, short all be it, but straight to the end he's loyal to the space age bachelor Bible and the things that made his life whole. Next, Ocean and Ricky just have very opposing views and that's expressed multiple times during the show, the porno monolog and the chaos theory monolog being the 2 that pop into my mind right away. Now my favorite little part of their parallel happens in 'its not a game/its just a ride' the part where it goes "no one will measure, how hard we try" It's literally only sung by Ricky and Ocean, facing head on to each other, it really drives home the fact that in life they were measured as the extreme options on either end of the scale of "worth", the best and the worst respectively, Ocean was seen as the "most successful", some how her life weighed more because of her accomplishments while Ricky was subjected to being viewed as lower quality both in life and worth due to his disability. God I love this musical and I could rant and nitpick it for more details but I'm a bit tired
