i was actually kinda...... disappointed abt the whole “flowey=asriel” thing. not because i thought it was bad writing or anything, but because i just... really like flowey. as he is. i just really loved this shitty evil flower who wanted to kill everyone with no clear motivation for it other than a vaguely hinted past of being hurt. i kinda just wanted like, flowey is someone/something who has had a terrible time in life, and by chance has been given all this power, has given up, has just decided to kill everyone because he hates himself and also the entire world for making him hate himself. i dunno. something about that idea really resonated with me and i kinda wish i had been able to keep it. i still have yet to experience the no mercy run, of course, where i assume i’ll learn more about flowey, but its ironic that everyone was like “oh man if you love flowey after just the neutral run youre gonna be really happy with the pacifist run” given. that business. i just like characters who suck and are hopeless

I guess you could theorize that Flowey thinks Papyrus is special because of whatever connection he and his brother has with WD Gaster and his work and he sees Papyrus as being much easier to manipulate into getting what he wants from that thread than Sans.
