Meet my big, beautiful Rotkopf: on loan from Dianne Cox for this year. He is nearly as long as my arm, from beak tip to tail feather tips. Look how lucious his curls are! Recessive red is rare in most breeds, and it is a recent addition to the very short roster of frillback colors. It is one of my favorite colors next to black, and works very well with black.
So I got this special guy from @theramseyloft back on Friday!!
Some of you might recognize him, I am now the IMMENSELY proud owner of Rotkopf!! But I've since then renamed him to Cooper
I've had my eye on this boy for awhile, since he was offered for adoption months ago. Dove-mom and I chatted and decided that I wasn't the best choice for him at first..He just enjoyed being in a flock too much
But in the end when she decided that he would be better off as an indoor, single-bird for health reasons, I took another leap of faith and asked one more time. I was so lucky, and so surprised that no one had snatched him up the first time!! He's such a handsome catch ;DD
And after a few days of traveling, here he is! He's settled in nicely, and he's already been brave enough to eat out of my hand, sit in my lap and just loaf around with me :DD
