Shiff was born in a dungeon, but he preferred chasing adventurers out of his territory to hunting them. On one encounter of defending his home, Shiff swallowed a ‘big round shiny’ from one of his attackers in an attempt to stop them from hurting him with their magic. To his dismay, he found he couldn’t spit it back up like any other inedible object he had swallowed - and he discovered that, from then on, he could cast magic! However, he’s not very good at controlling it, and it frightens him, so he prefers his natural abilities over what he refers to as ‘the burny hiccups’. Shiff eventually left his dungeon, his curiosity driving him to follow and observe people while in disguise. In doing so, Shiff learned to speak words in Common, and seeks to learn even more. His deepest desire is to make a friend somewhere, especially another mimic if at all possible. He’s not picky - if he’s not immediately attacked, he considers that a good start towards companionship.
