I think maybe it is a family friend's wedding, and Luke is just absolutely in his feels. Like there is so much love in the air, and he's just getting emotional about one day marrying the love of his life!

His hands are everywhere but to himself (in a family-friendly way ofc), constantly holding his girl as close as possible to him, or squeezing her hand.

Something quite literally takes over him. And to her, this is just normal Luke, loving, outspoken, clingy, her version of Luke.

He even gets the nerve to bring her on the dance floor and slow dance with her at some point which has the entirety of his extended family watching with raised brows as he's smiling and twirling the girl around and around.

At some point, Luke goes off to congratulate the groom and get another beer while his girlfriend sits quietly at their table. She's across from Jim, who she has found very reserved, but he has this look on his face saying that he has something to say.

"I don't think I've seen him so happy," he said looking at the girl whose face immediately turned red.

"Luke?"

"I used to think he took after me, but I'm starting to see a bit of Ellen in him when he's around you," he said with such clear sincerity, which caused the embarrassment to fade and softness to take over.

it's a simple sentiment, but it holds a lot more weight than the older man lets on.

"Well, I'm glad you think he's happy, I hope I can give him even a sliver of the happiness that he gives me," she smiled and he gave one back in return.

"You do, It's written all over his face."

I’m bringing this to tumblr because I feel like need to say something and am not talking or advocating enough on my platform, especially in this political climate.

This is a White House article talking about the President vision of “revitalizing the youth” and restoring “tradition” ones of which are riddled in misogyny, racism, transphobia, etc.

Matthew tkachuk along with many other evil individuals from the sport sphere are people working alongside and for the trump administration to silence anything that goes against “traditional sports value.”

Let’s be absolutely clear, this isn’t just a sports policy it’s transphobic, misogynistic, and racially coded legislation hiding under the mask of “tradition.”

It’s fascism and a way of forcing marginalization among youths and within sports programs. And people like Tkachuk aren’t passive participants in the conversation, they are enabling it.

This article being posted a few days prior to his ea sports cover shoot is really highlighting the despicable and disgusting patterns in which we are seeing in sports media at the moment, and I hope ea sports feels ashamed that him and his evil beliefs are currently the face of their brand.

This is inexcusable. Trans women are women and should be treated and respected as such. Sports should be accessible to all. And there should be no room in sports, both actual and fandom, for bigotry.

That being said, I have had a pit in my stomach since the win. 

At first, I felt some pride in a few of the individuals representing the USA, but that all went away the second I realized the true implications of the win, especially after I saw that video of them on the phone with Tr*mp. They have made this win less about representing the USA, but rather a celebration of their own hateful values and an alignment with a power structure rooted in white supremacy and bigotry

And I just cannot stop thinking about the women’s team that has been playing their asses off for years to get the recognition they deserve, and the way they were treated as an afterthought and a joke by all the men in that room. It was completely disheartening and gut-wrenching to see. These men have mothers, sisters, wives, daughters, and other women in their lives who have helped them get to this point, and yet, when given the chance to acknowledge women as equals rather than accessories, they chose silence, mockery, or alignment with power instead.

That choice is what hurt the most.

Furthermore, seeing the Hughes brothers in particular go on Good Morning America, smiling and completely missing the point of why so many people (women especially) are upset with them, is baffling. That media appearance felt less like accountability and more like image management.

I want to see an apology, and I want to see men making strides to, both publicly and privately, be more respectful to women.

And Jack’s comment about how “everything is so political” is infuriating. This win became political the second they got off the ice, allowed the head of the FBI to get drunk with them on taxpayers’ dollars, and started foaming at the mouth at the opportunity to shake hands with a known predator, abuser, and powerful man.

Lastly, I keep seeing individuals on all platforms repeating the sentiment, “that people should never expect better from rich-cishet-white men.” And as I sit with that idea, I realize how harmful it actually is.

Lowering the bar doesn’t protect us from this shitty behaviour, but rather normalizes it.

It is not naive to have hoped that this new generation of players would do better, or that they might represent a more just and inclusive vision within hockey culture. Even if that hope was disappointed, striving for a better culture and a higher standard still matters.

Accepting less only guarantees that nothing changes.

Queer and trans folk deserve safe places to participate in sports!!!

And racism is not a side issue in sports, it is embedded within the system!!!!

I imagine shopping days are very few because his gf would never want him to go overboard on her (he needs a financially responsible babe).

Also, imagine him waiting as she tries things on he's sitting quietly and waiting for her to come out and show off!!

She comes out in the most beautiful satin floral dress with a corset waist and he's a literal puddle in the floor. Any English he knows is out the window and he's speaking Swiss German under his breath practically salivating.

“D’ya like??” she twirls innocently and turns around to see him a little taken aback.

“I love.”

She smiles at his silence before walking over to him and pressing a kiss to his lips. "I'm gonna get dressed now so we can go home,” she gently ran her thumb over the stubble on his jaw.

I'm thinking Luke x plus size!reader. Maybe she's very not used to receiving love so outwardly, and luke literally can not keep all the love he has for her to himself.

Like she is a blushing mess every time he tells her how pretty she is, or anytime he unpromptedly wraps himself around her, even a gentle hand brush has her so flustered!!

And a little bit in Luke likes to see the effect he has on her, but also he can tell she's never received such romantic and unconditional love and he wants her to know just how much love he holds for her!!

I imagine they are at a bar, lights are dimmed, everyone is either dancing or mingling amongst themselves, and Luke is just holding her by the hips and inching her closer and closer till her back is flush against his chest, as he talks along with his teammates.

She's not uncomfortable, but she always has this little voice in her head that hates to let her relish in this love sick carelessness.

“You okay?” she asks the man, as he squeezes her hip and presses a kiss to her cheek.

She's immediately red, looking at all of his friends for their reaction, but they are in their little world.

“You're very clingy lately,” she said with a quirked brow as her hand moved to flatten the collar of his shirt.

“Not clingy,” he shook his head, “just wanna love on you,” he said before pulling her in for a life-altering, heated kiss in the middle of the bar.

He pulls away momentarily, holding her face in his hands and mumbles a short, “my pretty girl,” before kissing her once again.
