Olha aí o porquê são chamados de "colhereiros". Eles usam os bicos em forma de colher para remexer a lama do mangue em busca de alimento. Eles comem peixes, pequenos anfíbios, insetos, camarões, moluscos e crustáceos. A presença de algumas substâncias nesses seres dos quais se alimenta, chamadas carotenoides, dão uma coloração rosada ao colhereiro. Crazy Backlit Spoonie by MyKeyC I decided to, just maybe, go overboard a bit and not worry about looking natural. This Roseate Spoonbill was nicely backlit but the contrast at the time of day it was taken was pretty harsh. I decided to go with the flow and take advantage of the craziness.
