ICELANDIC HORSESHOE ADVENTURE MAP: Well, it became 'The Minky Way' instead of 'The Minky Trail'. We got from Skogar to Ásbyrgi, but not really the way we had in mind! It evolved more into a monkey-brain-old-school-rambo-style-hitchhike-adventure. But half way I found a horse shoe! "Ain't that something?" It was just another legendary trip! ATTENTION! Keep in mind that there are almost no bars outside Reykjavik and Ákureyri...
There is a dirt road (f26) called: Sprengisandsleið, that runs from the south to the north. It's one of the oldest shortcuts of Iceland. It might come out handy in case of a lazy day and never too far away from the trail to bum a ride.
The Way Of The Minky
The Minky Trail will follow and connect the existing trails: Laugavegurinn, Askja Trail, Myvatn Trail and Jökulsárhlaup, all the way from Skógar to Ásbyrgi. Click on the trail names for more information. A 450 km hike that will take you around 30 days to complete.
