#ROOMMATE101 aLWAYS TURN UP WHEN UR ROOMMATE IS SINGING IN THE SHOWER

This applies to those in small dorm rooms, like myself. If your room is arranged such that only their desk is in between both beds, do NOT set stuff on their desk. That is their space. You have your own desk. Set shit their. No one cares if it's convenient because it's also next to your desk, because again, that is THEIR SPACE. They don't go and put their water bottles and homework and electronics on your desk. Because that's weird. So why would it be any different for you to put stuff on theirs? So don't do it, it's annoying and you're using space and furniture that isn't yours.

Do not lock your door from the outside while you are inside. When you leave, your roomie will not realize your/their door is locked, and if they close the door because they have to go to the bathroom, they will be locked out. And it IS your fault. So don't do it, it's stressful and stupid. Lock it from the inside.

When your roommate is sleeping or trying to sleep during the night, do not use the microwave. It does not MAGICALLY get quieter. It's loud and will wake them up. So don't do it, it's rude.

I don't usually write anything on tumblr. First, because I have nothing to say, and second, I don't have enough followers that would care. But experiences with dorm life are overwhelmingly needing to be said. Welcome to my Roommate 101. I will tell you what NOT to do, in a series of posts, as they happen to me or I hear about them. I'll probably just be talking to myself but it'll make me feel better so I really don't care.
