As a matter of fact, Mia Lancaster is the pen name I’ve decided to adopt (for many and diverse reasons) to sign the romance novel I’m working on this year as its author and writer. It’s still untitled as of now, but I firmly believe that’s about to change quite soon.
I’ve recently turned 29 years old, ten of which were spent trying to publish a book without any success. I’m a sagittarius, crazy about cats, “mother” of three of them, and engaged to the man who has inspired me not to give up on my dream of being an author.
After trying time and again to make bookstagram and booktok work for me, I’ve realized the pressure over the profiles on those social medias are not exactly what I want, therefore, I decided to start this blog here on Tumblr.
What I truly desire is to have a space where I can ramble (and fangirl) about the books I read, love, and share my journey as a beginner writer uncovering the wonders and challenges of writing her first novel without having to expose my life in a manner that is borderline unnecessary for this career. Without having to worry about a posting schedule, to study algorithms, to get into trends that not always make sense to my final goal. Just a space to be myself and meet other people like me, passionate about the literary universe.
As a reader, I usually consume romantasy and contemporary romance books, both in English, language in which I’ve been fluent for almost fifteen years, and Portuguese, my mother tongue that I also use exclusively on my second profile here on Tumblr: @livrosdamia.
Basically I’m a lover of love stories! Though the subgenres vary widely. From elves to pirates, fae to demons, angels, dragons, billionaires, CEOs, countrymen and cowboys… If the story is well written and the romance promises butterflies in my stomach, I at least give it a try!
However, I’m not an easy reader to please, more often than not I’m very critical about the books I read and most of times the biggest hypes of bookish social medias end up not meeting my standards (and perhaps that was also another reason that pushed me away from them, who knows?)
As an author, I’m working on two projects simultaneously in both languages I speak: a romantic fantasy that will still wait quite a while to start being written, and a contemporary romance set in a fictional small town in the highlands of Rio de Janeiro (state where I was born, raised and live) which first draft I’ve already begun.
It’s the journey the second story is taking me through that I want to start sharing here! And maybe, in the future, I’ll try once again to become a “bookinfluencer” or something, or just decide once and for all that my destiny is to influence through my writing and not my posts.
Well, I hope to build a nice community around here, so if there’s anything I said about myself that resonates with you, it’ll be a pleasure to meet you!
As we say here in Brazil: “furthermore, nothing more.”
