Neilâs Bar, Indio CA â 3 years ago
âWhen you said wager, I assumed it was going to be less one sided,â she drawled, taking in her interesting surrounds. Klaus couldnât help but grin at the raw sass he remembered so well and just how good she looked in mini denim shorts and a sly smile.Â
âEveryone likes a bit of karaoke,â he reasoned, gesturing to a nearby booth.
âYeah, especially a chart topping musician,â she shot back.
âChart topping? Has someone been researching Klaus Mikaelson?âÂ
âNo, Mister Third Person,â she replied bluntly, taking a seat and gesturing to the waiter for service. âYour sister mentioned it actually, think sheâs quite the fan. Not surprising given sheâs related and kind of has to like your stuff, or pretend to anywayâŠâ
âHey, hey,â Freya objected from a neighbouring booth. âI heard that and itâs only like fifty percent true.â Klaus wasnât surprised, his siblings had this way of pretending not to care in public, even Freya who had joined the family fold late but had picked up on their idiosyncrasies quickly. It was then Klaus knew they were definitely related.
When heâd stumbled upon, not only his sister but the woman heâd been dreaming about for four years at Coachella, he wasnât quite sure how to approach it. In fact, his response had been erratic and somehow heâd challenged her to a unknown bet in the space of three unexpected and stressful minutes.
Klaus loved a wager, in fact heâd won many over the years against his bandmates but suddenly he felt a little self conscious. Caroline Forbes had that effect on him. To say heâd been following her career closely over the past two years was an understatement. He all but stopped at posting photos because it was both stalkerish and Kol would never let him live it down.
âThis isnât about my stuff,â he implored, hoping that his family hadnât done too much damage.Â
âSo whatâs the bet, Mikaelson?â Katherine Pierce appeared from out of nowhere.Â
âKat.â Caroline replied. âI know you get bored easily but weâve made more than a few friends tonight.â
âIf youâre talking about the band Iâve already made some predictable judgements,â she offered, taking a seat next to Klaus and startling him somewhat. âThose two are in love with your sisters,â she gestured between Enzo and Lucien. âAnd donât get me started on Kol, he needs a leash and thatâs only for starters.â
âSheâs good,â he offered, shrugging his shoulders and sending Caroline a coy smile. âDo you hire her out for parties?â
âI probably should, god knows it would make us lots of money.â
âI could probably analyse this particular situation unfolding before me but given my precarious position as Carolineâs best friend Iâll pass,â she chirped. âSo, what exactly are the stakes?â
âWe both perform a confidential song of choice,â Klaus suggested, passing her a scrap of paper. âBest crowd reaction wins. Although given Iâm a singer Iâm more than happy to...â
âDonât you dare, Mikaelson,â Caroline shot back. âI donât take pity.â Klaus was fairly certain he liked her even more at that point.Â
âNot gonna lie, youâve probably bet the most competitive person to a challenge,â Katherine whistled. âGood luck, I only hope the terms arenât your first born.âÂ
âIâm game,â he murmured, trying to ignore just how adorable she looked gnawing on her pencil and trying to work out what to write. âIâll take a date.â
âHow extremely predictable,â Caroline scoffed, taking a brief moment to gaze into his blue eyes.Â
âI really need my hedges trimmed,â she smirked, folding the piece of paper over mysteriously. Klaus couldnât help but feel his erection begin to grow beneath the booth. âAnd I really hate washing too.â
âWashing,â Klaus coughed, trying to reconcile her terms.Â
âYes, you know domestic chores? Why? Are you afraid to lose?â She sing-songed. Â
âI donât ever lose a bet, love,â Klaus boasted, folding his song choice next to hers. She might of had the upper hand earlier, but he had every intention of  winning no matter the consequences....Â
