We had our last fifth grade Mother-Daughter book club for the academic year tonight and look what one of the mothers (not me!) made us! We read #TheMightMissMalone by the wonderful @christopherpaulcurtis. This book led to such wonderful discussions. The girls were thoughtful and engaged-as were the moms! We didn’t plan it this way, but our prior read was #EsperanzaRising, also set during the Great Depression, so we were able to compare and contrast the girls’ experiences. Next year the 6th grade reads #rollofthunderhearmycry which will provide yet another interesting comparison read of a resilient little girl in the South during the Great Depression.
