The 2017 AHRMA race season is underway. The first competition of the year was held at Roebling Road right outside of Savannah, Georgia this past weekend. I was looking for some sort of redemption after holeing a piston there during practice last year and not being able to race. A few upgrades to the bike during the off season were also needing to be sorted out. The weather was absolutely perfect and the bike was running flawlessly in practice. Saturday's races kicked off with the CB160 LeMans start race and I took 5th place. My highest finish ever! The 200GP race was an hour later and I also took 5th. I entered the 250GP race just for more track time even though I was out gunned motor wise and took a respectable 7th place. Three top ten finishes! This was looking good. I was really focusing on strong corner speeds, nice lines and smooth riding. Sunday was a bit cooler temperature wise but most of the head wind was gone from the day before. I took 5th again in the CB160 race after being drafted and snaked at the finish by a bike length by Rosco Tuffli. I won't let that happen again Rosco! In the 200GP race I took 7th and ran my best times of the weekend and beat my target lap time goal by a second. Overall a nice first outing with 5 top ten finishes in 5 races with 3 being top 5. This was also the first race weekend that I didn't even open my toolbox. All I did was add fuel and check tire pressure. It was a nice turn of events from a year ago.
