Using Infinity Nikki to emulate Historic Fashion
Many know Infinity Nikki as a girl-focused open world dress up game, with many clothing pieces and styles that are, for the most part, fantastical and non-specific to any era in time. So, how does one use the game's new dyeing function, to practise color trends in a certain period of human history?
A bit of luck and determination, I'd say.
For this exercise, I chose the Rococo-Period. Think Marie Antoinette, Versailles and the 1730s. It is often confused with the Baroque period as the two intermingled but I'll make it simple!
Bright and contrasting pastel colors, especially salmon pink
Flower motifs
Extravagant silks whilst attempting for "simplicity" (the pastels)
Here's some famous reference photos for that time period as well.
All very famous portraits, but I used the second image (Madame De Pompadour by Francois Boucher) as the main reference, and The Swing (First image).
The second issue was, finding an infinity nikki outfit that at least emulated the 'look' of this time in history. I was lucky enough to own the "Dream Banquet" set.
It has the puff sleeves, the lace, and even whilst not pictured, the shoes reminiscent of the Rococo Era. The only downside is the dress length is too short and it lacks the "Robe à la Française" basically a long gown trailing at the back. I'd hate to say it but my closest description would be, to think of a cape that trails at your back rather than covering over your shoulders.
So I set to work. Over 20+ different dye sections over the course of 8 pieces of clothing.
It took some time, but here's my final result.
The Swing (French: L'Escarpolette), The Happy Accidents of the Swing is an 18th-century oil painting by Jean-Honoré Fragonard
