in fact, i've been wanting to talk about this
the idea of the dessert neighborhood is that it's like a different realm of sorts. when a dessert gets baked they're in the real world, but when they get eaten they appear in the dessert neighborhood until they're rebaked again
however, i haven't talked about this a lot because some desserts don't follow the "bake and rebake" rule and they wouldn't spend too much time in the neighborhood so this whole thing wouldn't make sense OTL but it IS the idea i have of it and the idea we follow on blogs and such
in the neighborhood, desserts can wander around freely without having to be near their dessert (their actual real dessert doesn't EXIST in the neighborhood, only the human version)
what a dessert does in the neighborhood affects themselves the next time they're rebaked, but if they die they will just be, yknow, dead. their body will literally disappear whenever they get rebaked, like if it were a videogame lmao. and if they only died, whenever they see their baker or owner or w/e they'll be just fine unless they got blood inside them or something i guess bc that would change tastes
desserts have replicas of their places in the neighborhood (which by the way is just a giant kitchen that plays as a small city), and their economic status depends on their baker's or industry's money
Hey, Mara! So I'm working on the webcomic and I was wondering... (canon-ly speaking) so you know how Death-kun murders dessert? Will the human society arrest him for that? Or does no one care that a dessert is murdering other desserts because it doesn't affect humanity?
i'm gonna go with the fact that death appears to murder desserts while he's in the neighborhood even though i think he also does it in the real world just for this to make sense-- humans aren't really big on the dessert neighborhood, maybe bakers and owners keep in touch with their desserts but they don't walk around with them
thus, if a dessert gets killed in there (even though it's supposed to be RARE but we're all dying everyday over here lmfao) humans aren't supposed to know
i don't think it'd be possible for death to do it in the real world but if he did-- or if any dessert did, i think they would do it with human help, which would make a human their accomplice and i guess that human would be reprimended for destroying another person's property?? maybe. maaaaybe. it depends if the other person didn't want their dessert to die u feel
