“Sorry,” Robert winced. “I did try to explain - but they wouldn’t hear of me leaving them somewhere for you to collect. Who’d have thought, the prison service isn't so open to negotiation,” he finished dryly.
“Robert,” Andy’s face was serious, now, as he leaned on the creaky table. “What happened?” he gestured at Robert’s face, the cuts, the bruises, the obvious marks of a vicious beating.
Robert shrugged. “You know how it is in here,” he lied. “One wrong look, and you’re a target.”
Katie looked suspicious, and Robert prayed she was willing to keep one or two more secrets for him. He wasn’t ready for Andy to know. He wasn’t ready for anyone to know the truth.
“How long have they got you back in here for?” Katie asked, and Robert was grateful, for how willing she was to change the subject.
“Three weeks,” Robert sighed, twisting the wrapper of the Twix Andy had bought him between his fingers. “Breaking the terms of my license. And I need to give them a permanent address I’m staying at before they release me.”
Andy shrugged, as if it were entirely obvious. “You can stay with us,” he said, pausing for a second. “You should stay with us,” he corrected himself, sounding more determined.

My headcannon/prediction for the twist that sets off the flashback sequence is that Kev arranged for Robert to get hassled so he could play hero to win him over. Extra points if Kev reveals this while they’re talking about how they met/got together and he doesn’t see what’s bad about that (or at least doesn’t see how the fact that time has passed and he and Rob are close doesn’t justify his actions). Bonus bonus points if Kev did this on multiple occasions, anytime he and Rob fought or he thought Rob was getting tired of him/thinking about breaking up with him. That would obviously be a huge betrayal for Robert given how bad they’ve implied he had it, to find out that even some of it was not only caused by but intentionally arranged by the one person he thought he could trust would obviously be devastating.
And the at would also explain the promo photo of Kev crying on the couch because Rob would obviously kickoff if not outright breakup with him, so he’s only now realizing how bad he messed up and that he might lose Rob forever.
