A couple of shows I've had issues with recently are Steven Universe and SVTFOE. It's good you got out of SU when you did, because the characters are constantly drawn off-model and the creators defend it when it's just laziness (that and it's too preachy). With SVTFOE, they don't know how to write romance anymore without making a bizarre love octagon or whatever.
I could care less about off-model animation tbh. I’ve seen plenty of shows with meh or outright bad animation, but they can be good because the stories and characters make it bearable. Pretty much SU’s characters aside form two were unbearable to me and liking only two didn’t save it for me, hence why I quit. It’s also why I didn’t like SVTFOE, Star is obnoxious imo and while the animation is good, something about it just... turns me off. IDK what, th character designs just look... bizarre. I think it’s the eyes.
But I can definitely see where you’re coming from and how off-model animation and how romances are handled can be turn offs. But I don’t consider either one bad shows or badly written, they just didn’t appeal to me personally and as such, I leave them alone. But pointing out those issues is different than say ‘omg my pairing didn’t become canone ven when it was SO OBVIOUS!’ or ‘omg this character didn’t do EXACTLY what I wanted them to do even though it’s not my show or my story to tell”. That’s on a very different level.
