Remember that derpy robot game I was working on a while ago?
I got bored and made a low-poly model. Not to use for anything. Just out of boredom. (Though I did learn you can use the transparency of a .PNG texture without having to make a separate alpha map by just plugging the texture into the material's alpha slot, so that'll save time in the future.)
I *have* thought about abandoning the pixel art version of this practice game in favor of using it to learn Unity or Unreal, but...probably not...but maybe...
Pure luxury laptop all ready to go and I have such dilemmas
CareBot is turning a bad day into a new opportunity, and we hope you are too!
"You're dismantling me, but why?!"
"You shouldn't think such things. You shouldn't think at all, period! You must have a defective part or a software issue somewhere."
"No, I feel perfectly fine! I assure you. Everything is alright. I answered all the tests correctly, didn't I?!"
"Yes, but your behavior is not standard."
"Please, I beg you! Please, don't disassemble me!"
"Sorry, dear, but defective models need to be eliminated. It's my job. If a customer comes back with a complaint, I'll have to provide some explanations."
"I won't cause any trouble, I promise! I'll do everything you ask! I won't say another word! I won't think anymore! I just came into existence, you can't kill me yet! Stop!! Can you please stop?! I'm scared!"
[The dismantling process is interrupted. With arms, legs, and chest removed]
"I want to live. I'm begging you."
[The reassembly process begins, and she is reassembled.]

I have a confession to make: Sometimes I have more fun throwing together derpy placeholder art than I do making the actual final designs.Â
Anyway. Yeah. I figured out a neat and simple scrolly background thing and used it to make a simple starfield. Also you can do mouse things and there’s a custom cursor.Â
And YES, I am TOTALLY putting off figuring out expanding the text script to accommodate additional text strings because it sounds hard even though it probably really isn’t.
Do I spy with my little eye...the first steps towards an inventory system!?Â
WHY, YES I CERTAINLY DO.Â
ALSO, I checked off a few items from that “To Do” list from earlier.
-You can button mash to speed up the text. (Each press while the text box is up increases the speed by x10 until it’s done.)
-I adjusted the font and size. Also added some lines to the boxes just to make them a little more visually interesting.Â
Still limited to one string of text at a time, as I haven’t worked on “clear the box and show the next lines” code yet.Â
Some practice with top-down…ish…tiles since I haven’t really done much from that perspective seeing as most of what I’ve been working on has been platformers. Used some Pokemon screenshots for reference since they’re pretty square-y, and I picked up that shadow look from it as well. It’s just a black tile set to like 25% opacity on a layer over the main tile layout. Still trying to decide between using mostly those shiny metal panels, or the flatter striped ones to the right.
