A very interesting Robola from Cephalonia. Here is how the producer describes it: βMade entirely from Robola of Kefalonia, an increasingly rare, ungrafted, noble grape variety. The grapes are sourced from high-altitude, extremely low yielding vineyards within the PDO zone. Quantities are limited to 30,000 bottles each year. A fresh, vivacious, crisp white wine, which expresses all the mineral and citrus characteristics of this unique variety. Complex, balanced and dry, with an orange blossom nose and long finish, this wine is a perfect partner for seafood and oysters.β. I had the pleasure to sample the 2012 vintage in the past. Here I found a bright, clear medium lemon-green color wine. Clean on the nose with medium aromatic intensity suggesting of wet stones, lime, grapefruit, green apple, green pear, and orange zest. Fully developed. Dry on the palate with high acidity, medium+ alcohol, medium body and medium+ flavor intensity displaying peach, wet stones, lime, grapefruit, peach, green apple, green pear and orange zest. The well-defined fruit is balanced by the zesty acidity. Medium length with chalky aftertaste. Good quality wine with expressive primary fruit, balance between the acidity and the fruit, some fruit concentration and complexity and medium length. Great with fish dishes in the company of friends. Thank you John and Melina!
