Bird Flu Engineered to Infect Humans Could Be Lab-Produced ‘In Months,’ Former CDC Director Says

More than 1,200 current employees at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have signed a letter calling for the federal agency to address "ongoing and recurring acts of racism and discrimination" against Black employees, NPR has learned.

In the letter, addressed to CDC Director Robert Redfield and dated June 30, the authors put their call for change in the context of the coronavirus pandemic's disproportionate impact on Black people and the killings of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor and Rayshard Brooks. NPR obtained a copy of the letter, which is published below.

"In light of the recent calls for justice across this country and around the world, we, as dedicated public health professionals, can no longer stay silent to the widespread acts of racism and discrimination within CDC that are, in fact, undermining the agency's core mission," the letter reads.

The letter offers a rare glimpse inside a famously opaque federal agency, where career staff often work for decades and information is carefully filtered to the public through the press office.

“For example, as was mentioned last spring, the CDC did not recommend school closures … nor did we recommend closures today. I will say, back in the spring, there was limited data. Today there is extensive data that we have,” Redfield said.

“And so the President sent his press secretary out to tell us all what Redfield said -- what he has not disputed he said! -- wasn't actually what he said. We probably shouldn't expect anything different from a President who famously/infamously said: "Don't believe the crap you see from these people, the fake news. ... What you're seeing and what you're reading is not what's happening."”

Asymptomatic people are a thing with many viruses, and this one is not an exception.  If you leave the house while infected but asymptomatic, you have a high probability of spreading the virus extremely fast.  Now I know a lot of people would say “well it doesn’t effect me why should i care” and my answer is, if the fact that going out ENDANGERS OTHER PEOPLE’S LIVES doesn’t dissuade you, maybe the fact that as long as people continue to carry this fucking virus, this quarantine shit will continue.  If everyone would have just stayed the fuck at home, this virus would already be on it’s way out the door as it would run out of carriers to infect.  

The problem is: everywhere, in every city around the US, you see young people outside playing sports and hanging out with friends during the quarantine.  QUARANTINE IS NOT SUMMER VACATION, QUARANTINE IS NOT FREE DAYS YOU CAN GO OUT WITH FRIENDS, QUARANTINE MEANS STAY THE FUCK HOME BECAUSE YOU ARE HELPING SPREAD THE VIRUS EVEN WHEN YOU DON’T THINK YOU ARE and many of these people will spread this to all their friends, and some of their friends might die as a result of their actions, and during all of this the rest of us who are following the damn rules are gonna be stuck inside for longer because people keep not taking this shit seriously.
