from what he thought would be a class of amateurs, he was very surprised to hear a good array of voices that sounded like they had already been trained and cultivated. he did well for the things that he had to work with and he didn’t think he was bad but he knew that he could also use work and fine tuning. maybe that was the point of exercising with a partner in class to bounce creativity and critique off of one another. he just felt bad for his partner as he didn’t really have too much to offer in terms of sage advice. after perusing the room a bit, partners were decided for them and he was sat now across from her. and of all people...
how long had it actually been? had to have been a good amount of years since he had last seen her face let alone even hear her voice... the lyrics that they were given were rolled up within his hands that rested upon his lap, his thumbnail picking at the corner of the paper as he sought words in the following silence that came as they were dismissed to do their work. voices rose up around them with cheery greetings and honeyed vocals but there was no need for that between them.
“have you been well? it’s been a while.”
should he have even said that? he had been the one that slowly began to cut her off first.

Why are they making all of us suffer by taking us to rap lessons? That is the first initial thought when she saw the schedule for this specialized camp. When it finally came Minhee recalls the horrors when she tries to be a rapper when she first joined Sphere even though they encourage her to be singer more since it was truly obvious there was no rapper bone in her body, unlike saerom. During the rap lesson she took the opportunity to make Saerom smile with terrible rap impression, “Yo yo, it’s your mini unnie. Beep boop beep boo?! am I’m rapper yet?” she tried to act swag before tapping her nose lightly in a playful manner hoping for the other to crack a smile. Minhee noticed lately she seem not herself lately probably cause the fact they kept losing girls either them leaving or samsung giving them away to other companies, which is great for them but it still sucks especially when end up training and performing them. Minhee can’t complain to much she still got Saerom, Jihyo and Sua is a really nice addition to the mix.
“try relaxing your wrist more. if you’re stiff here---” he points at her poised hand. “---then it’ll be stiff here.” he gestures at the paper laid out in front of them that proudly boasts 쿤, his name, in three separate trials with increasing fluidity. korean calligraphy, he finds, is a little different from the semi-cursive style he had learned back in china; the strokes are a lot shorter, their ends more accentuated. it took a bit of time warming up to this particular style, but he thinks his third 쿤 looks rather nice, especially comparing it to the others around him ( they’re trying their best, his mind supplies ).
still, it makes him jittery just standing there and watching, so he promptly decides not to.
“the pressure should come from your fore-finger.” he tells this to the younger boy to his right. “no, no. that’s too much. loosen your grip. try again.” after the boy completes his first character, kun turns back to the girl on his left---saerom from dance class, if his memory’s not failing him spectacularly. “hm . . the way you’re holding your brush makes it a bit more difficult to achieve the smooth lines. try holding it a little like this.” he lays his hand over hers and tilts the brush’s angle slightly downward. then, with his brow furrowed in concentration, he guides her through 이. “see? easier.” ———— @rksae
The sphere trainee decided to scout around the cafe seeing what they had to offer until her eyes lie upon a fellow sphere trainee who seems to be collecting as much Luxe’s Yena merchandise she possibly could carry, it was quite a cute sight to see. Minhee couldn’t resist but interfere so she decided to sneak up behind the younger lightly tapping on the other shoulder, “Saerom ah~ you can’t have /all/ of that Yena’s merchandise. I want some too, this is closest I get to see my child~” she said putting her head on the other shoulder pouting like a child trying not to laugh. Minhee love to refer Yena as her child even though technically is not her child but she felt like a proud mother watching her grow over these years so, in her mind, Seoyoung is her child.

❪ follow the light that is even more blinding ∙∙∙ ❫
it’s unfamiliar territory. picture this: park jiwon stepping out of her comfort zone. ( and so early on in her trainee career, it was ... interesting, to say the least ) but here she is, an unknowing duckling a gaggle of boisterous trainees, all uncertain of what’s to come. in the minutes to come, jiwon finds herself smack-dab in one of the scenes of her favorite movie genres. right before the jump scare -- the thundering, ominous music, the slow-crawl of the camera, the dim of lights and then the scare. it comes like a thunderous assault of nerves and panic as everyone scrambles around the auditorium, grabbing arms and limbs with no real game-plan in sight.
jiwon becomes the instigator as she fights tooth and nail for survival. what was the use of being a wallflower when the evaluation for the month could only be deemed something of the dog eat dog variety?
just how was jiwon supposed to ‘catch’ this so-called eye?
this is how she comes to find herself, momo, chungha, seulgi, lisa and saerom in a single group; sitting in their row, waiting for what’s to come. while taking initiative is always the smartest thing to do, it’s where jiwon fails -- she’s no leader, she was never meant to take ‘charge’ and be the voice of the people. hell, jiwon barely had a voice for herself. who was she to voice opinions and thoughts so freely to people she barely even knew?
and then there was the unforeseeable complications: apparently, they were all dancers.
it was like the devil had planned and laughed at their fate, they were all dancers; a gaggle of fools with the best feet to match. jiwon hadn’t been a trainee for long but she was sure this couldn’t be what training entailed -- this was a hardship jiwon didn’t sign up for.
she wasn’t a leader, she didn’t know how to handle this.
that’s why surprise comes second when they’re handing out parts, dishing out what they all believed they were best at and when it comes to jiwon: when she’s asked if she can sing, hesitance comes first with surprise a ringing second. sing? there was no way.
but really, who was jiwon to say no? she wasn’t a leader, but she also didn’t have the backbone to oppose.
in the end, she practices. while jiwon can’t say her entire heart is into it, she’s full of nerves and unease, she does her best to keep up with the lines and the beat of the song. she isn’t a born singer and ( barely ) six months of training can only do so much and while she tries to tell herself that the song isn’t a hard song ( the dancing was a doozy trying to memorize all the steps and counts but she got it in the end ), she can’t help but get hung up over the lines.
of course they’re no main vocal -- she can only offer her condolences to seulgi who seemed just as unsure of her part as jiwon did -- but, like everything jiwon was unsure of, there was no way she could do this confidently.
dancing? yes -- sure, obviously faking confidence was easier when dancing could become muscle memory and exhausted into bone. the dance is more girl-crush than she had expected. it didn’t look hard, too. and while it was definitely something one of her teammates back at the dance club would have liked, jiwon was more impartial -- if it got her through this month’s evaluations scotch-free, why not?
singing, on the other hand -- didn’t that take real skill?
the end of the month comes faster than she feared. she’s gripped by the turn of the clock and how april quickly fades to the last day. she’s worrying about it all the way to seocho, shedding her coat as they’re told to file into the auditorium before being dispersed into their individual rooms.
she despairs for the minute they’re given as camera equipment is tinkered and the men who stand behind them quiet down. the lights are bright along the crowns of their heads and jiwon can feel her sweat begin to swelter at her palms.
when the music starts: she can only hope for the best.
her voice rising from her throat the moment her limbs meet the floor and she’s smiling at the camera that’s directed her way. it’s blinking red eye a smile away --
The girls looking beautiful in their costumes even though the red hair wig with the green leaves was a little bit irritable but Minhee will have to manage at least they are secured. The bonus about being poison ivy at least she gets show off her lovely figure which spends time at the gym to create this masterpiece. The older female hugged her girls before going to sit down on the chair in position until Saerom gets up from her chair and clown trap music starts to play then she proceeds to dance her little heart out completely freestyle manner just like they rehearsed. While Minhee & Naeun use their acting skills to look annoyed at each other watching the other dance like it wasn’t part of the plan. The two females get up to grab the crazy little dancer with the audio made comic sounding voices telling her off and making her sit back down in her chair while the girls go back to her seating so the real show could begin....
The sexy poses to the beat of the song as the original choreography then Naeun opens up singing the song in her lovely voice while Minhee followed along keeping to the choreography. The first chorus came along starting off with Saerom follow by Minhee singing with harmonizing together at the bad girls' part to give it more oomph. It didn’t take long for Minhee go into poison ivy mode as she uses her charisma to ooze the sexiness of this character she playing in this performance even though those lyrics pretty much sums up Minhee’s do in day to day life, she does work rigorously for success and love innocently maybe she is bad girl after all. The choreography of this part made her giggle so many times in practice when she goes to pretend to kiss Saerom in the routine since she is poison ivy and poison kisses are her weapon plus it is noted in research there are people who put Harley & Ivy together as a power couple so it felt right. Thankfully, she did not giggle but she smiles instead to repress the instinct to giggle instead. The main dance is very simple so it wasn’t very difficult to learn so she didn’t struggle but she did love spinning around in a circle like some comic book superhero changing into a costume which she found very cute. The main thing she kept in her mind was to have fun with it and embrace the role she was playing being cheeky even little daring too.
When Minhee was watching the performance videos of Katie Lee she noticed that she tends to flirt and play with the camera so she decided to learn from this yet instead she would flirt with the coaches during the performance plus be playful with the girls who she performing alongside and let be honest it was pretty fun to do. This is her version of messing about but it is all for the performance to give it that little something special. Minhee does admire Katie Lee as an artist and that’s why she tends to cover her songs in evaluations but she isn’t sure she would thrive as well under her company so she is glad to be part of the sphere family instead.
This whole concept is completely out of Minhee’s comfort zone as she must pretend to be some badass villain, thankfully she got the role of Poison Ivy which is the most sensual character so she knows she probably brings out her inner sex kitten for that. Minhee never breaks the rules when she does it usually for very good reason, she will always be a good character, not the bad one. Not only that, this is the first project she thought of on her own and taking the control of it thus bringing her two trusted dongsaengs along for the ride, Saerom & Naeun. The older female did all the line distributions picking out the outfits for the girls to wear but there were some things she needed help with which was the choreography. Dancing isn’t her strongest suit despite how much she has approved in that area so this is why she arranged a meeting with Saerom at the sphere building to talk about the choreography for the girls even thinking maybe dance break would be fun to show off Saerom hip-hop dance skills too.
Minhee was sitting on the floor of the dance studio next to Saerom showing the video of the live performance of Katie’s Lee bad girls, “So...Katie Lee’s main choreography is set around three-person formation so that isn’t a problem...Will you be comfortable being the male dancer in this part? I also thought it would be a fun idea to put in a solo dance break for yourself to showcase what amazing dancer you are, it can be total freestyle for a minute maybe in beginning like Harley mad minute of dancing and me & naeun will drag you to the seats to actual perform this song-- what do you think about that?” she suggested as she wanted this project to go smoothly and be something memorable for the coaches to watch.
