Yunho had been on his way to the convenience store after scouring the ads for possible jobs. It had been a tiring day but he still felt pretty good. He was missing his time at the university, learning all the different techniques really made his heart sing, even if his life had been little more than study, work, and sleep. He hadn’t expected to be stopped on the street by a fellow university student and asked to perform a freestyle rap in front of a rolling camera. At first he felt a wave of apprehension wash over him as he hurriedly fixed his hair and adjusted his circular glasses but the other’s insistence that it didn’t matter what he rapped about—it could be anything—eased his mind and he soon began to cast around for a topic.
Work, work, every day work
Corporate business, self-owned interests
Societal expectation and pressures, in this world there’s no time for leisure
It’s just work, work, work to make ends meet
Work until you drop, work until you’re beat, work until you can’t stand on your own two feet
Perhaps being a cog in the machine of society was getting to him, but it was the first thing to roll off the tip of his tongue. And he did feel a bit better after getting that off his chest, but he was still going in for his shift or he’d not be able to pay rent. Or worse, food.

Im Yoona was almost always out and about. She always had things to do and people to meet. She was a social butterfly, and social butterflies never rest. She got bored if she sat at home for too long, especially if Umji was out. She had a free day and she wanted to check out any sales and vintage clothing stores.
She was in Hongdae shopping street, browsing a rack of pants outside a store when she felt a tap on her shoulder. She turned around to see who could be trying to get her attention. That’s when she spied a boy who looked young, carrying a camera. Yoona was curious to know what he could want with her, but she was happy to help.
She smiled at the student as he spoke. Once he asked her to rap she froze. Rapping, that was Yoona’s biggest fear. She could sing, she could dance, but she could not rap to save her life.
Someone save her.
She let out an embarrassed and nervous laugh at his request. He had assured her she didn’t need to be embarrassed and that he’s sure he’s encountered worse rappers than her, and she’s thankful for his attempts at boosting her confidence. She took in a few deep breaths and nodded that she was ready.
Once the boy turned the camera on her, she began, her voice shaking. Her technique was very bad.
Yo yo um
Already this was a disaster.
I’m here with Junse
Helping him him with his project
A rap project has got my respect
Students these days never know what to expect
I’m really bad at this
Yoona covered her face in shame. Her cheeks were bright red and she wanted to hide away. Why had he asked her of all people? She sighed deeply. What had she just done?
Junse thanked her and continued on his way. Yoona stood still in embarrassment for a few more moments before she continued shopping.

center camera only interrupted by the constant stream of hearts caressing the border and the endless flow of comments just beneath his features. deep set eyes stared not at the camera but instead off screen, a swift hand upon his mouse shifting back and forth as he clicked with attentive eyes on the computer screen nestled within the recording studio. “i have no idea what i’m doing, guys...” admitted on a broadening smile that still remained partly distracted. “oh, wai-- is this it?” a soft murmur of second nature english to himself as recognition touched his eyes. a short pause. a more confident smile. “yeah, yeah, yeah.” success brightened his features and he finally turned to the camera on his phone, checking his beanie before addressing his livestream viewers. 20,000 and counting. “i’ve been working on something again but i’m making it exclusive to this livestream. so don’t go recording it and posting it everywhere else.” he feigned sternness before it melted away. “or do. i don’t really care.” a shrug of his shoulders brought him to sit up, an idle water bottle grasped to serve as a microphone. “you ready?” the question accentuated with a cupped hand around his ear answered with silence. “you’re ready.” one hand took the mouse as the other prepared his makeshift mic and his eyes found the camera once again, an easy confidence in them. even if he wasn’t the best, he was proud of his efforts.
an easy rhythm rode with his melodic and smooth voice, each word enunciated and intonated uniquely to his own supine flow yet still captivating in their deliberate power. a wall that couldn’t be broken built from within his chest. he rapped carrying the beat with him. he didn’t rush. he didn’t chase. but he owned it. a sanguine smile surfaced halfway through. even as the 8 bars ended, his rode the beat as his arms pumped upwards from his chest, his head shaking and shoulders rocking.

Hyunwoo had a broad smile on his face while petting his dog, “you’re such a lovely dog” he said while smiling.
Hyunwoo had just gone out for a walk with his dog when suddenly a stranger approached him, “excuse me?” the stranger said and Hyunwoo looked up. Seeing a boy, a bit younger than himself, Hyunwoo smiled and stood up while carrying his dog “yes?” Hyunwoo answered. “I’m Park Junse!” the stranger said while smiling “Could I borrow a minute of yours? I’m currently doing a school project” the stranger said while lifting a camera, “oh, you want to interview me? Sure!” Hyunwoo answered while he put down his dog, “No, I want you to freestyle!” this so-called Park Junse said, and in less than a second Junse had positioned his camera and clicked the record button.
Hyunwoo were a bit surprised at this random request but this young boy looked very avid in this school project and Hyunwoo therefore really wanted to satisfy this boy. Hyunwoo once again picked up his dog and then he started spitting out the first words that came to mind.
“I love my dog she is so sweet,
she makes me feel complete.
I love my dog she is so nice,
her fur kind of looks like rice.
I love my dog,
because she is hot!”
Junse stood there for a while after Hyunwoo had finished this short freestyle rap, he then finally lowered his camera and smiled “thank you!” the boy just said, and without notice, the boy had run off and left Hyunwoo curious about this school project and happy.

RK OPEN EVENT - FREESTYLE RAP
[tw: implied bullying]
“Come on, I saw you on the MGAs! I saw how good you are at rapping! You’d really be helping me out, hyung.”
Moonbok ran a hand through his hair with a noise of mild distress, the kid poking at the still open wound that was the MGAs. That said, he couldn’t find it in himself to shoo the boy away, not when Park Junse was staring at him with such a hopeful expression and a camera clutched in his hands.
Moonbok wanted to believe there was some admiration in Junse’s face too, but he wasn’t going to pin his hopes that high. It wasn’t as though he deserved it.
“Alright, alright! Enough with the puppy eyes, I’ll do it.” The words are harsh, but the exasperated grin on Moonbok’s face lessens their impact considerably. Looking around him in bemusement, who’d have though a trip to Hongdae would turn into an impromptu busking session? At least he couldn’t say his trip into Seoul was boring.
“Ok, hyung! The camera’s rolling, so whenever you’re ready.”
Amused expression sliding off his face to be replaced with a more serious and brooding one, Moonbok took a few steps back to make sure he was within the frame of the camera’s lens. A thumbs up from Junse and Moonbok closed his eyes for a moment, giving himself a three count in before letting his feelings fly out.
“Hey, tell me something now,
When’d my life turn out like this?
Standin’ on stage, about to take a bow
Then a few words go and destroy the bliss”
“They look at me, say I’m a spoiled brat,
Surrounded by doctors and lawyers, my parents say
‘What happened, why don’t we have a son like that?’
Standin’ in the void, I’m screaming ‘mayday,’
Mom, dad, aren’t we done with this combat?”
Pausing to take a deep breath, Moonbok hastily blinked to clear his suddenly blurred vision, and missing the expression on Junse’s face.
This was cathartic.
“Walkin’ through the halls of the University,
I know what they’re thinkin’, I can hear the jeers.
I swear they’re tryin’ to kill me
They got ‘em all on speed-dial, every one of my fears
And it’s takin’ everything I have not to flee”
“But I’m not takin’ it anymore, I ain’t lying down,
I’ve sacrificed too much to just walk away now
Dunno when, dunno where, but soon I’ll wear the crown
Watch me be the star someday, watch me take a bow.”
Practically gasping for breath, Moonbok realized the blurriness in his vision was due to his damp and eyes and he quickly swiped at them, hoping he hadn’t actually been crying. Bowing to the camera, Moonbok walked over to the young student, who was staring at him, mouth agape. Ah, this was embarrassing.
“Sorry, it’s probably not you were looking for, I shouldn’t have--”
“No, hyung this is perfect! I could really feel... This is great, thanks a lot!”
Smiling a little at the younger boy, Moonbok nodded once, eyes still a little red rimmed and cheeks flushed.
“Ah... If that’s the case, I’m glad to have been of help. Good luck with the assignment, alright?”

she used the chicken to warm her hands even if she didn’t need to. it was still a good sensation that she couldn’t just pass up. the food laid flat on top of her palms while still having a plastic bag separating the package from her skin. when someone decided to stop her in the middle of her journey back home momo silently stared at the food on her hands, unsure if was too much of a distraction. if she could see the camera then the camera could certainly see her too, right?
“freestyle rap?” the girl repeated after him. although she had successfully made songs on the spot for important situations such as her being hungry, or a serenade to her hamster, they were actually triggered by some sort of inspiration. so momo looked at the boy in front of her before searching around for anything that could catch her interest. and that’s when she saw it - the chicken on top of her hands. she chuckled at the thought, but after staring at it for a few more seconds it didn’t seem like such a bad idea.
the person in front of her looked confused, and probably because she had just spent the last minute looking around like a crazy person. still, momo only nodded with a bright smile, not thinking about giving an explanation. “okay, you ready?” he nodded back at her probably being ready before she even started looking around.
I just bought some chicken on this nice evening
And it is very warm so you better keep listening
Don’t forget a cozy sweater before leaving the house
And gather a lot of food just like a little mouse
Award yourself some soup after a long tiring day
And I hope you find a penny when you go on your way!
had her hands been free momo would have clapped for herself, but instead she only politely nodded to her one spectator. “thank you!” he wasn’t clapping or anything, but she still thought it was an opportunity she wouldn’t have gotten anywhere else. “don’t stay out too late!” she couldn’t wave either so the girl just kept nodding while walking away. thankfully her chicken was still warm.
♥ The last thing he was expecting was to be approached by a smiling student with a video camera in their possession. It was too soon for him to decide whether this was good or bad luck, but he did his best to politely grin and hear them out regardless. Why he chose to walk up to Mingyu for help with this project, he wasn't sure. Another thing he was unsure of was just exactly what kind of classes does this kid take for this to be something they're required to do? Either way, he was already roped into it so he had no other choice but to rap from his heart. He was put on the spot, so it wasn't like he could come up with something complex nor did he have time to mask the meaning. This was likely the worst thing that could happen, considering all he'd been thinking about lately was... him.
seems like just the other day,
i was praying to god,
wishing he'd give me a sign,
let me know i have a shot,
but as i'm sitting here,
all alone, in my element,
i'm thinking i should stand,
visit you for the hell of it
Rhyming was easy. Coming up with clever things is what he's been practicing for years, but he never once had to deal with hiding his emotions in the blink of an eye (he was plenty good at hiding them, or so he liked to think... just not in a situation such as this). What he could hope is that this would be overlooked— maybe anyone that saw it would be so caught up on his ability to do something that isn't the basic "My name is Mingyu, I'm a rapper that doesn't sleep. My flow's so smooth, it makes all the haters weep" (yeah, he was thankful this wasn’t it...), that they would ignore the actual lyrics.
'cause if i'm being honest,
i'm scared that you'll fade away,
when all i've ever wanted,
was for you just to stay,
but patience wears thin,
i know that nothing lasts forever,
well, that's what i've been told,
but i've seen people stay together
How long has this been festering inside of him? The fact that it came so naturally was a little scary. Though, taking into consideration that he had no time to think or prepare, all of this was clearly something that consumed his heart and mind. He felt fortunate since he did a good job of keeping it a secret in any real life scenario. Not that this wasn't real life, but it certainly wasn't that anything that happened every day. If he was lucky... it would be the only day. Having to deal with more instances such as this one would likely overwhelm him.
either way, i can't afford
to waste more time,
you're too important for me
to simply put on the line,
moments are precious,
now i'll let you know how i feel,
since you're the only one,
that can teach my heart to heal
Is that how he really felt? Obviously. Why else would he have said it? The words that delicately fell from his lips would have to be something that he'd confront later, when he was safely alone. This was going to call for some soul searching and figuring out, but at the moment, all he had time to do was give another smile and a short bow. Maybe he should consider looking into acting. He did a really good job of playing that off, if he said so himself. Thankfully, it was over. The kid could do what he wanted with that and hopefully... do good on the odd project. Mingyu, well... he had to do some thinking.
