It was somewhere around eleven in the morning, Levi had just rolled out of bed and stumbled through the front door of his apartment. His hair was disheveled after a long night of tossing and turning. He’d hardly slept, and all he wanted was a cigarette. He sat perched on his front steps with smoke billowing from his lips, a clear sign that he was anxious about something, when the door next door opened. He cleared his throat, eyes unwavering as they watched cars drive down the street in front of them. “Good morning.” Something that he ordinarily wouldn’t say so close to noon, but he knew River was probably just getting up herself. “Off to work?”
