The light shone down on Seraterina, giving even her golden curls a silvery light. She played with the wind in her hands, letting them go through her fingers and tickle her inhibitions, loosening them up like threads of a dress.
Suddenly, a white noise entered her ears; the meditative state she practiced, over and over again, started to disintegrate. Seraterina covered her ears, breathing as if to summon the sea, only to find herself flush in desperation. She pressed her palms onto the mossy terrain, only summoning jasmine flowers in her mind, not on the ground.
"I have called you to do my bidding," an ominous voice rung from the ink black sky. Seraterina rose her head, taking note of how the moonlight imbued the aloof calls.
"Re'letsi'Te, is that you?" She gasped, as if she could see the goddess' face herself. Instead, the moon remained transiently indifferent, instead answering her with its quiet light.
The young woman cupped her hands as if to collect water, and offered them to the night ahead. The biting cold mocked her insistence, a contrast to the Belinese warmth she left behind. A second later, a pale orange flame appeared in her hands, tickling her palms with its warmth.
"Here is something for you to speak to," Seraterina replied to the night, indecisive on whether to rub her hands or not. The task at hand made her arms tremble, despite knowing that to preserve the flame is to showcase a little more power she wouldn't have known. After a minute, she lowered herself to the moss, and ignited the moss.
A circle of flame surrounded her, rivaling the moonlight in its lighting. She retreated a few steps, taking the moment to revel in her magic, something which only a distant aunt could take note with her wilted hands. The other voices, which noted a girl from the shore, were only birdsong from a foreign country. The smoke blinded her to the moon's message, but Seraterina smiled as she gritted her teeth to the night.
