So Pixar is going to release this movie called 'Coco', a cinco de mayo movie. It's about a boy named Miquel who dreams of becoming a musician even though his family forbids it. He ends up in the Land of the Dead and meets a trickster named Hector. Together they embark on an adventure to find out the real story of his family's past.
Nothing wrong with the story line except for the fact that Pixar has basically ripped off Fox. Remember that movie 'The Book of Life'?
Summary: In the Mexican town of San Angel, Manolo, Maria and Joaquin have been friends ever since childhood. Although their lives have taken different paths -- Maria was sent to Europe, Joaquin joined the military, and Manolo studied to become a bullfighter -- one thing remains the same: Manolo and Joaquin both want to marry Maria. Little does the trio know that battling husband-and-wife deities have made a high-stakes wager on the love triangle's outcome.
Well Pixar made Coco, basically the same movie. Monolo wants to play music instead of following his dad's dreams of being a bullfigther while Miguel goes to become a musician. It isn't the exact same plot or story but it isn't original either. The day of the dead story was told in the Book of Life with love and adventure but also self-recognition for Monolo. Coco looks visually appealing and sounds like it would be a good movie but it's just too similar to the The Book Of Life. It's like when you read fan fiction that's all the same thing and it just gets boring. Whatever, anyways that's my rant.
