I don't know if you have previous experience with owning rabbits, but if he's your first, I highly recommend checking out the r/rabbits subreddit for a wealth of information and resources on the ins and outs of bunny ownership.

I know you're currently unsure about adopting a second rabbit, but I definitely encourage it if you can. Bunnies are very social animals and they get depressed if they don't have a friend to bond with. While they do bond with their owners, they still get lonely without another rabbit around, especially if he was previously part of a bonded pair.

Two bunnies aren't any more difficult to take care of than one (imo, it's actually easier to take care of a pair than a solo bun), and it'll make both Deke and your furniture happier in the long run. If you're worried about the process of bonding, most rabbit shelters will let you bring your bunny to adoption events so they can interact with the shelter buns to find one that's a good fit personality-wise, too!

And if you have any questions or concerns, don't hesitate to reach out to the rabbit-owning community! Everyone in it is so supportive and helpful, and the r/rabbits discord even has an entire channel dedicated to bunny bonding.

Thank you! Your rabbits are adorable. We are familiar with r/rabbits (but have lately been spending more time in the #rabbitsofmastodon tag than in r/rabbits for what I think are obvious reasons).

Even better than that, though, we do have at our disposal a friend who is an active member in the House Rabbit Society, who is offering a lot of advice and support. If and when we decide to find him a companion, she will probably lead that search.
