this is the put-on-purpose little baby puppy face of the most pitifully bored dog, who is so chuffed with herself since she just got her way:
it's been raining, so she's resigned herself to staying inside, & i've been working in my easy chair or standing at various counters. which means...i cannot continuously cuddle with her...*gasp* HOW DARE I?!
so after her being up in my face the entire day (including pouty looks, snoot nudges, her just barely audible thus incredibly annoying "whine/cry breathing," fake coughs, & ONE singular defiant bark, despite getting plenty of attention, treats, & playing otherwise), i finally gave in & am now working from bed, with her happily laying against & head cheekily resting on me, of course.
hello yes do you know how awkward it is to have a giant dog that loves any & all children so much, that when i take her to the beach she starts crying when they are still like 100m away & does her darndest to look as friendly as possible while trying to hide her desperate excitement, & then there is an embarrassingly weird role reversal where i have to ask the parents “can my dog come say hi to your kids?”
a little frolick in the fynbos!
more displays of her unbridled happiness under the cut:
nothing like a 10-hour, overnight, late summer-style thunderstorm in early spring to remind you just how heavy a 90lb/40kg dog is...(as she was laying with her entire weight on me while trembling in fear the whole night)

guess who successfully tracked a genet, with no prior training or instruction? my darling doofus did!! (i myself have been professionally trained in wildlife tracking, though.)
cannot express how proud i am of this dog & how far she's come in showing her intelligence & abilities over the last year.
(not a photo of where she tracked, but just look how chuffed she is with herself on this hike!)
TOOF
one of her many nicknames is my/the "blarney stone," since her happy/contented grumbly growls when i cuddle her have a "blahr" sound to them.
& also because...what do you do to the blarney stone? YOU KISS IT.
