The country is pretty green. The real, wild nature can be found mostly in southern, mountainous part. Up north are mostly sugar cane plantations. There is one special plantation near village called Mapou. Near Mapou is a chateau called Labourdonnais. That chateau has beautiful alley of old, majestic trees. . There is beautiful orchard, and rhumerie. It amazes me (in a negative sense) that in order to build and maintain such beauty, so many enslaved people had to work for very few lucky ones who did literally nothing their whole life.. and that mansion will show you many proofs about that. .
