Wow me & hubby actually managed to go see this guy on friday night, its the first time since Eve has been born in 2015 that we have gone out. Only just uploading photos from a much needed absolutely fantastic night out on Friday with @jessicasweet4108 @sionsweet their friend Siarran, and my dad 😁! We went for a yummy meal at @prezzo_restaurants and then saw Rhod Gilbert live. He was incredibly funny, and all of us cried we laughed so hard 😂! It was particularly apt that his comedy was about trauma. He’s written his material based on the last six years, which were full of awful and sad events (his mum dying of Alzheimer’s, his dad suffering a heart attack and Rhod caring for him, then having to put him in a nursing home, then Rhod himself having a stroke, and finally, him and his wife suffering infertility issues), and the people who got him through them; including the extremely unexpected choice of his driver, John. It was so fitting that we’d go to see a comedy show with such a theme during such a difficult time, and when we share such similar beliefs. My family, my friends, myself... we use humour to survive. I wouldn’t be alive today if I couldn’t laugh at my pain, if my loved ones couldn’t laugh. We find things funny that would probably be really fucking weird to other people 😂 but in the words of my mamgu; “sometimes all you can do in life is laugh or cry.
