SHERIFF- “It looks like some kind of animal attacked her. A coyote possibly?”

MAYOR- “I need to contact her parents. This is not good Rhett, try and keep this under wraps for right now until we can determine what it was that attacked her.  Such a fucking shame. Such a beautiful girl.

SHERIFF- “I hate to say this Mayor, but what if this was one of those crazy vamp----

MAYOR- “Exactly why we need to keep this out of the press.  This town has been through enough the last few months, all we need is for word to get out that one of our young people were mangled by a fucking vampire!  Understand? Who found the body?”

SHERIFF- “The Pries kid, Erwin.”

MICHAEL- “Yes, she was upset about a gift I tried to give her.  Anyway, I don’t know it was probably a little before 9, the sun was going down, it was dusk.  I tried to let her take me home, but she didn’t want to sit in my cousins dirty truck….And she had, had a bad day all day and was just really upset anyway.”

SHERIFF- Bad day, why?  What had she said to you?”

MICHAEL- “Really nothing, I mean what you and I would consider a bad day, was not Jaylen’s idea of a bad day. She said her parents were arguing, and her brother made a mess in the bathroom that she had to clean up, and that she ran out of her favorite eyeliner.  Really nothing serious, just girl stuff, I would say.”

SHERIFF- “So do you know of any one, or any reason that someone would want to hurt her?”

MICHAEL- “No of course not.  I mean she was a little pretentious and self absorbed, but for the most part she was well-liked by everyone, and certainly she hadn’t done anything to give someone a reason to kill her. Anyway didn’t you just say that this was an animal attack?”

SHERIFF- “Yes,we are just making sure that this is what it seems to be.  Once we get the medical report, we will know for sure, but until then we need to follow up on anything we can, just in case....  So if you can think of anything, please contact our office.”

MICHAEL- “Really this is all I know, I mean I just met her the other day.”

SHERIFF- “Okay, well thanks for your help Mr. Boedell.”

As the Sheriff gets up to leave, Mila and Jules enter the apartment….

SHERIFF- “So Erwin, what were you doing out here to come across the body?”

ERWIN- “That is Jaylen River’s isn’t it?”

SHERIFF- “It looks as though that is who it is, Erwin, but please do not say anything to anyone until we can notify her parents. Now how did you find her?”

ERWIN- “I walk through here every morning to go to my Artifacts Shed, you know my booth I set up over by Ruby’s...is she dead Rhett?”

SHERIFF- “Did you check her body?”

ERWIN- “Yeah, she wasn’t breathing, and then I called your office. It looks like something bit her.  Do you think it is vampires?”

SHERIFF- “Erwin, you and I both know that there is no such thing---

ERWIN- “Oh yes there is! And there is a slew of them out at the old crash site, I know I saw them.”

SHERIFF- “Got it boss...but we need to do some damage control as we speak, here comes that reporter from WTSV….Miss Collura, she wants a statement.”

MAYOR- “Okay, I will deal with Erica, you deal with the Pries kid. And call the medical examiner out here to get this girls body. It’s is going to be over 100 today, the last thing we need is for---well you understand.”

SHERIFF- “I do, and I can control Erwin, I have dealt with him before. So you want to contact Mr. and Mrs. Rivers, or should I go out there?”

MAYOR- “No, I can do it. John and I are good friends. I will go out there after I get rid of this reporter. Poor kid...this is horrible.

SHERIFF- “We will find out what, or who did this Mayor, I promise. If we need to haul in everyone of those crazy people setting up camp out at the crash site, I will do it.”

MAYOR- “Discreetly, Rhett, remember, as far as everyone knows, this WAS an animal attack.”

SHERIFF- “I am really sorry to bother you Mr. Boedell, but I need to ask you a few questions regarding Jaylen Rivers.

MICHAEL- “Okay, sure, Officer…?”

SHERIFF- “Sorry, Jones, Rhett Jones. You were with Miss Rivers last evening at Ruby’s diner, correct?”

MICHAEL- “Yeah, we had a little disagreement and she left and walked home...Officer Jones, just what is this about?  Why are you asking me questions about Jaylen?  Is everything okay??”

SHERIFF- “Can we sit down, Michael?  It’s okay to call you that isn’t it?”

Meanwhile back out at the Roswell home, Meredith is talking to someone on the phone….

MEREDITH- “He said that when I return that he is going to file the divorce papers on grounds of adultery….if he does this, all my inheritance goes to him. I told him the baby was Sully’s he doesn’t know it’s yours…. Okay but how are you going to do that…..

RHETT- “I have a way Meredith, and once I take care of this situation, you will have nothing to worry about, Okay.  And you don’t have to leave town.  You trust me right?

MEREDITH- “What are you going to do Rhett?”

RHETT- “Just trust me, okay. It is time that everyone finds out just what kind of man, Ted Roswell is. He has been swindling this town out of money and putting the people in harm's way too long, it has to stop.”

MEREDITH- Okay, if you think I am going to be okay, then I will stay in town.  I do trust you Rhett.  I love you.”

SHERIFF- “I think I convinced the Pries kid, Ted.”

MAYOR- “I certainly hope so, ever since that whole plant fiasco, he has been a pain in my ass, and if he goes out spewing shit about a vampire killing, I am not going to be happy, Rhett.”

SHERIFF- “I will keep him under control. They have the body ready to go to the morgue, You want me to go with you out to the River’s house?”

MAYOR- “No, I got this. Just make sure this is reported the way we talked about.”

SHERIFF- “It’s fine...not a problem.  But about Miss Rivers, there was an accident last night near the old abandoned Motel 6. It seems that Jaylen was attacked as she was walking home.”

MICHAEL- “OMG!!  ATTACKED, by whom??!!  Is she okay??”

SHERIFF- “We think it was some kind of wild animal, maybe a coyote, and no, Michael.... Jaylen is deceased.”

Michael sits there a moment and processes what the sheriff just said to him.  How could this be??

Rhett gives him a moment to compose himself, and then continues with the questioning.

SHERIFF- “I am really sorry to be the one to tell you this, but there are some questions I need to ask you.  Do you think you are okay to go on?”

MICHAEL- “Yes, yes...please...It’s just so surreal to think that---
