For those in Georgia the Windward Animal Hospital (Fulton County, GA) is working to get the vaccine. LINK
Here's a brief infographic about what RHDV2 is and a reminder that we have an upcoming vaccine clinic! If you can't (or don't want to) come to our clinic but have rabbits you should reach out to your vet about a vaccine as this deadly virus is spreading across the US. We will be doing our first RHDV2 vaccine clinic on Sunday November 14th from 10AM to 4PM here in Bloomington, IN. If you want to sign-up go to www.signupgenius.com/go/10c0f48aaad2fa1fdc25-rhdv2 (in the bio for you Instagram folks) Here are the details: ❤ Cost is $75 per rabbit which includes both vaccines, a brief exam, optional microchip, and a nail trim if needed/desired ❤ The second vaccine will be given on December 4th and we will sign you up for a slot at your first appointment ❤ Address for the vaccine appointmemt and paperwork will be emailed after sign-up ❤ Microchips are optional but unless you opt for a microchip we will not be able to officially confirm your specific rabbit is vaccinated in case of outbreak without one ❤ A vaccine certificate will be provided after the second appointment when the series is complete ❤ Sign-up at https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c0f48aaad2fa1fdc25-rhdv2 ❤ If all spots fill we will see about adding more or doing an additional day Let's make this a huge success! Get your rabbits vaccinated so we can keep them all safe from RHDV2! #rabbit #rescue #sanctuary #bunny #rhdv2 #vaccine #vax https://www.instagram.com/p/CWJb97KvDtA/?utm_medium=tumblr
Have you posted before about RHDV2? It’s entered my state and apparently there’s been several outbreaks in a lot of places. We don’t seem to have great access to vaccines here in the states though. I heard about it from my local house rabbit rescue, who linked this: https://rabbit.org/rhdv/
Prynhawn,
Here is a post that Dr. Ferox has made about RHDV2. Hope that helps.

Hi! Saw your post about Lucifer the bunny and it made my day. I will look into buying your book from sweden, the cause for it is wonderful. Anyway, I've heard rumors about Australia releasing a new rvhd virus to combat the wild rabbit population. We already have some problems now with the vaccination not giving full protection for the latest version (we call it "type 2") and as quickly as things travel now I'm a little bit worried. Do you know anything about that?
Basically the Australian Government is a douchebag when it comes to rabbits. We use myxomatosis and calicivirus (RHDV1) for biological control. These viruses will also affect pet rabbits. We’re allowed to have a calicivirus vaccine, Cylap, because it’s an inactivated vaccine. We’re not allowed a myxomatosis vaccine because it’s a modified live vaccine, so hundreds and thousands of pet rabbits die every year from myxo.
The Australian government is releasing RHDV1 K5. This is the Korean variant of the virus and government testing suggests that the current Cylap vaccine is effective against it.
However we also have RHDV2, which is the type 2 you mention. It was detected near Canberra in 2015 and the current vaccine is either partially effective, or completely ineffective.
All government agencies state the origin of RHDV2 in Australia is ‘unknown’.
Draw whatever conclusions you like from that.

RHDV2 has been confirmed in Kentucky. Rabbit Hemorrhagic Disease is an incredibly deadly and contagious virus that infects rabbits. If your rabbit has not already been vaccinated we strongly recommend reaching out to your local veterinarian to inquire about getting this vaccine done. It won't be long until we are seeing cases in Indiana too. #rabbit #rhdv2 #vaccine #virus https://www.instagram.com/p/CXzOh17vYcN/?utm_medium=tumblr
From Michelle Kelly in the Rabbit Hemoragic Disease News Network
We are hosting a very basic RHDV2 webinar, hoping to get the word out about the disease in the U.S. and to hopefully convince people on the fence to get their bunnies vaccinated. Feel free to share!

If The Pipsqueakery (Bloomington, IN) did a public vaccine clinic for the new RHDV2 vaccine (for rabbits if you're not a rabbit person), who would be interested and how many bunnies would you have? I'm asking to gauge interest and determine if it would be worthwhile to do a public clinic. Additional information: vaccines would be given by a veterinarian, it would cost approximately $75 for both vaccinations (it's a two dose series), a microchip, a vaccine certificate, and cursory exam (yes, I'm taking a few seconds to look at your rabbit's incisors, and make sure it is sexed correctly) No promises that it will happen, just seeing if there is enough interest to be worthwhile.
