The most famous sight of Tirano, Italy, is the 16th century church known as "Madonna di Tirano"… and the little red train that passes through the plaza in front of it. In fact, of the two, it's the railway line that is officially the core of a UNESCO world heritage site, although the church is included in that. Above the train, in the mountains, you can also see the even older church Santa Perpetua, which was probably already old in the 12th century and watches over the Bernina pass alp-crossing route, which starts/ends here just south of the Swiss/Italian border.
