So the fairy tale begins in a far away place by PeterThoeny Reynisdrangar is a mystical place near Vik, located in southern Iceland. Several basalt pillars shoot straight up from the sea. The shore has basalt columns and a basalt cave. The sea is dangerous with sneaker waves. The tide might cut off your way out, so it is important to check the tide schedule before you walk beyond the basalt columns. Last year we went there at 03:00 am in the morning, shortly before sunrise. We had about two hours before the tide came in. This shot is at 4:30 am, one hour after sunrise. I processed a realistic and a paintery HDR photo from three RAW exposures, blended them selectively, carefully adjusted the color balance and curves, and desaturated the image.
