When it happened, Colt was in dormitory in college or something (eh, i haven't yet searching up about how dorm life in college in states). [This HC also came to mind because there's a tumblr post, here (I'll add it when I found the original mind)]

It was because their father abusive to Ryland that Court decides he had enough of that. Court was about 16.
