Cody/Wooley, Kix/Rex, or Thire/Thorn? For the warmup requests
I'm doing all three of them :D
Cody/Wooley
For a shiny, Wooley sure is fierce. Not that shiny usually arenât, but thereâs something else about Wooley, something that draws Codyâs attention: the kid is clever, more than people give him credit for, and heâs brave and self-sufficient. Most shinies, especially at first, tend to flock together, or they seek the company of older, more experience soldiers, but not Wooley. It isnât until Cody finds him alone, shaking and doing his best to keep away the tears, that he realizes that most of this is only a façade: Wooley doesnât want to be a weight, doesnât want to depend on anyone, but that leaves him alone and without support. Maybe itâs because he reminds Cody of his younger self, of the way he tried not to crack under pressure while also doing everything on his own, that he doesnât hesitate to reassure Wooley that needing support doesnât mean being a weight, and that especially he can come to him whenever he has one of these episodes; after all, it wouldnât be the first time he has to comfort a vod. The way Wooley lights up immediately at Codyâs words warms his heart, and itâs then that he makes a decision: heâll do anything to keep that smile intact.
Rex/Kix
Itâs quite funny that, for once, itâs Kix the one in need of caring. Rex says funny only because heâs got something as mild as a common cold, and not something life threatening - that wouldâve been the opposite of funny. He has to say, though, heâs quite disappointed to see that Kix is following Coricâs orders to a t; he was really hoping that heâd get to pull the âdoctorâs ordersâ card on him at least once, but he supposes that, out of anyone, Kix knows how he should be acting when ill. At least this means that heâll recover faster, which is good considering that Rex hasnât been able to kiss Kix the way he wants to for a while. Germs and runny noses arenât really a problem for him, but Kix insists, lest he gets sick too. What an absolute injustice!
Thire/Thorn
Itâs weird to see strait-laced Thire drunk - well, not exactly drunk, but pleasantly buzzed, as heâd say - but Thorn canât say heâs averse to the sight. The man needs to liven up his life a bit. This has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that Thireâs resting his head on Thornâs lap, nor the fact that heâs letting him pet it, not at all. Not that Thire isnât an affectionate person, mind you, itâs just that Thorn is a very physical person, but sometimes, despite his best efforts, he can be overwhelming. That thought almost makes him stop, but the content look on Thireâs face is enough to make him continue. After all, a few cuddles never hurt anyone, didnât they?
Last night, @firewoodwander and I were talking about Scorch/The Adviser in The Obligatory Modern AU and they spun this AMAZING scene. It stuck in my head and I just knew Iâd have to draw it.
Vies and Rex are âmarried-insâ/significant others of family members.
Firewood said: Vies is sitting curled up in an armchair with a mostly empty glass when Rex finds him the first time. He offers to refill him (appreciated) and then goes through the âwho and where and whyâ talk, and while theyâre watching Scorch and Sev corral the babies into antagonising Fi in the middle of the lawn Vies sighs, turns to him, and says âThatâs my husband. That one there, I still donât know if he realises he wears all his thoughts on his face. But no matter how much any of them are different theyâre all very much the same in the ways that matter: whatever you do, once theyâve adopted you youâre in forever.â
