Calling to all Infinite fans in the void! I have food for you!
Introducing… Nil the Jackal!
Now I’m gonna say it, I have a nostalgic attachment to Sonic Forces, mainly because it was my first Sonic game (haha I’m weird-). But I’m a firm believer that Infinite could’ve had so much potential if it wasn’t wasted. So with that considered, I’ve taken it upon myself to rewrite Sonic Forces specifically for my Sonic AU, Sonic Paradox. This delves into the concept of what if Infinite was simply being possessed by the Phantom Ruby instead of willingly going along with it, because I think that concept is personally really cool.
Now a few fun facts about Nil:
- His name is a synonym for zero to tie in with the rest of the Jackal Squad’s names. I got it from watching Garrulous64’s rewrite of Forces on YouTube and was like “Woah, that’s cool… imma steal it.” (I will change his name in case this causes problems with folks)
- Yes, I know that Infinite has an official voice actor, being CyYu, aka Alejandro Saab. But I started developing this concept before that was a thing, and I think for this, Yuri Lowenthal’s Spider-Man was a perfect fit.
- Nil is an acoustic guitar player! He’s been playing since he was a kid and has a fondness for country music. He’s also really good friends with Mina Mongoose and helped with her first songs before she was famous.
- After the Phantom War (renamed war in Forces), Nil swore to never get involved in violence unless he absolutely had to.
- Not so much a Nil fact, but my explanation for Infinite in the Chaotix Casefiles still looking like Nil is that Infinite doesn’t have a physical form, so he uses Nil as a base. A bit like Mimic with Duo.
- He has a girlfriend! It’s one of my older OCs that I’ve had since before I began to develop my AU. She’ll have her own spotlight at some point, but for now, meet Reaghan the Rabbit!
That’s all for now. Maybe I’ll introduce you to more of this storyline in the future, but here’s some Infinite food for those who need it.
