[[ @retirro for you my dear]]
Szayel tiptoed into the Primeraâs compound. Â He wasnât exactly sure what he was expecting, but certainly not the prevailing silence that swirled about him, wrapping him up in a velvet blanket. Â It was not that quiet bothered the Octava, but in the absence of noise, his mind clicked and whirred with a more ferocious intensity than usual, as if trying to make up for the empty space with internal chatter, like a dog chasing its tail.
His purpose was innocuous. A simple reading of a reiatsu signature for scientific endeavors, but most people were suspicious of the scientist and his methods, so he didnât dare just come out and ask.  He would figure out something else.  The entry rooms were vacant so far, and he continued onward through the white-walled hallways.  Finally, the first bits of sound reached his ears, relaxed breathingâŠebb and flow.
Of course. Â It took a lot of energy to maintain that kind of power; he remembered that well.
Cocking his head, Szayel studied the sleeping Starrk. Â In rest, most people reverted back into an earlier state, a window into their most vulnerable parts, but this was different. Â Somehow Starrk looked even more burdened, as if sleeping was a serious task, a labor of the utmost importance. Â Still, it was a chance.
He pulled the small machine from his pocket and scanned the sleeping body before tucking it back into his pants. Slowly, he turned to walk awayâŠbut somehow this all seemed too easy.  He felt the weight of several nights worth of experiments tugging on his bones; he had been fine before, but now upon seeing the slumbering arrancar he felt as if he could sleep for a thousand years.  And more than anything else, Szayel was curious.
Softly, as to not disturb, he lay down next to the Primera. Â The soothing was automatic and he curled up into a little ball, a contradiction of keeping his distance and wanting to soak in the comfort of the sleeping man.
Szayelâs eyes closed, windows to the world shut, and rarity upon rarityâŠhe began to dream.
