The closest and easiest answer I could come up with was that he was a fullbringer in his human life, but that would mean that he’d still have the abilities now- which could be possible, and he just doesn’t know it. Maybe the reason he was so weak in his human life was also because he didn’t fully understand what his powers were- he was surrounded by other fullbringers, and never really stopped to think about it. I need to think about how Urushi would fit into this though hahaha orz;;

I kind of have a feeling that she might be mediating between Ren and his fullbring powers since he himself isn’t aware that he has them- maybe part of the reason she absorbs so much of his reiatsu is so that sensor types can’t pick out the bit of hollow that’s there? I feel kind of hesitant adding in another sort of power willy nilly since I wanted Ren to be about as plain as possible, but it explains away a lot of the quirks I gave him so well I’m starting to get really tempted to haha
