Can I gat the answer to y dear
This is the most polite ask I’ve ever gotten. Certainly!!
Y: What are your thoughts on your personal satisfaction with something you’ve written vs. the popularity of your stories? Do you tend to be most satisfied with your most popular stories?
Haha, hmm, oh gosh. There is some correlation between how well-written something is and how much attention it gets, but it’s definitely not... the end-all be-all, or as much as I’d personally like. It’s mostly about what fandom it’s for and whether or not the pairing is popular... and then after that, there’s a sort of self-propelling where due to the way people search, things that are already popular tend to increase in popularity where the other ones languish.
That being said, there’s nothing really up on my Ao3 that I don’t like. I’m proud of everything up there, even if I’m embarrassed by the writing quality on a lot of the older ones (looking at you, first 20 chapters of Keeping Secrets). So I’d say I’m proud of all of them, regardless of success? ...Although I’d be lying if I didn’t say I was especially proud of the middling success Dragon (S)laying has achieved compared to my other original works hahaha. And I’m definitely more inspired when something gets attention, and discouraged when no one comments at all. So I guess it does matter, even if we all wished it didn’t.
