He’s suffocating.

Too many memories. Too many things left unsaid, undone.

Too much pain. Agonising, a dull ache, a flare.

This is all he’s known, from the youngest age. 

Where did it all go wrong? Is it karma, divine punishment, a curse?

It’s all becoming too much. Years upon years of suffering, of survival. Never living, only existing. 

No one truly understands this quiet, violent raging in his heart. 

He wants to scream into the void, scream until there’s nothing left inside, until it doesn’t hurt anymore. 

Yet in the depths of his soul, he knows there is no end to it. 

And eventually, everyone around him gets tired of it, is repulsed of the negativity, of the pervasive chagrin.

But this is all he has known, from the youngest age. A warm and familiar agony, like coming home.
