About”Jungle”
長年の友人であり、音楽仲間でもあったJosh-Lloyd WatsonとTom MacCollの2人組を中心に2013年に結成されたJungle。ロンドンを拠点とし活動している。 メンバーは、ジョシュ・ロイド＝ワトソン(Production)、トム・マクファーランド(Production )、Fraser MacColl(G,B)、George Day(Dr)、Dominic Whalley(Percussion)、Rudi Salmon(Backing Singer)、Andro(Backing Singer)の7人編成。
英BBCの「Sound of 2014」へ選出され、2014年にセルフ・タイトル"Jungle"でデビューを飾ると、マーキュリー賞にもノミネートされた。1970年代のファンクとロンドン特有のポスト・ダブステップを融合させたサウンドをフューチャー。懐かしくもモダンな新感覚のサウンドが楽しめる一枚。
去年9月に2nd"For Ever"をリリース。若きプロデューサーとして高く評価されているInfloとタッグを組み、膨大な量のアイデアを削ぎ落とした野心作とも呼べるアルバムは、「世界滅亡後のラジオ局が別れの曲をかけている。」親密でありながらオープンさも兼ね備えた、スタイリッシュなネオ・ソウルで彩られている。
Noel Gallagherをはじめ、Jamiroquai、Justin Timberlakeなど絶大な支持を集めたジャングル。今年1月31日、東京 渋谷WWW Xにて一夜限りの初単独公演ライヴを果たしている。 2014年以来のFUJIROCK FESTIVALの出演の可能性はあるのでしょうか。(初来日の彼らはミステリアス部分が多かったらしい。)今後の彼らの活躍に期待大です。
