Renji hesitates.
It doesnât seem right.
No, thatâs not it. Right or wrong isnât the question. Theyâve discussed this. Itâs part of the deal. Renjiâs just not ready to make good.
âRenji!â Rukia barks. âDo it now. Renji.â
â¨Rukia should have stopped while she was ahead. Part 2 is her Captain Kuchiki impression, which Renji never finds as convincing as her Rukia Voice, but this time he can hear the tremor in her when she says his name. Itâs the tremor thatâs convincing, not the order.
âRenji, itâs time. Youâre ready,â Rukia promises. Â She pushes the small of his back with a fist. âWeâre ready.â
Renji looks down at this hands.
âRenji. Give Hanatarou the chicken.â
