It's just...
I love my kids, I do...
But if they "renovated" my house against my wishes I'd be so fucking sad and upset.
And this chick does it for YouTube views?
Mmmmkay...

The Nowhere’s Store Saga
Alrighty folks, it’s Storytime. I, along with my business partner, a couple of employees, and a handful of very dedicated volunteers, am building (quite literally) a Friendly Local Game Store and geeky community center in Springfield, Missouri! And hoo boy, it has been a journey. I’ll be merciful to the scrollers and put most of it under the cut, but click through to see the adventures we’ve been on for the last six months of dealing with a decrepit old building full of mysteries!
But first, a little begging for money. We’re so close to being open, but we’re also doing it as working class folks who don’t get on well with banks, so we’re dependent entirely on personal loans and crowdfunding. If you’d like to help us buy ceiling tiles along on our journey, please check out our GoFundMe!
Renovation hell: The nightmare never ends
Today was a truly horrible day and I owe my friend Stormcrow the world because he literally saved my ass when the other guys abandoned me with a half assembled dresser. It took more than five hours to assemble the dresser AND a small but vital part is still missing so I gotta go back to Ikea tomorrow to get it before I can finally put my stuff back inside.
And the bed did not fit. We had to remove parts of the skirting to make it fit. I was so close to crying so many times today.
I'm so tired. I haven't slept well the last days and I have literally no reserves left. But at least everything's standing and I get to sleep in my new bed tonight.
Just two more days, then I'm done. I can't wait.
Renovation hell: The encore
Surprise surprise, it aint over till it's over. So this weekend hopefully the new bed will finally arrive and since the dresser did not survive the last renovation phase wholly intact it'll be dismantled tomorrow and a new one will hopefully be put up on friday.
Then it's mainly small things that need finishing: the heater casing is almost done, the bed ceiling needs some sewing and prettying up and the light in the living room is too dark, making the new couch look almost blue so I need to do something about that.
I'm having a crushing bout of depression, likely from overtaxing myself, but at least today went over without a hitch. Managed to get a refund on the carpet, and got a new one too. Success!
I just need to get through this weekend. Please dear god let me get through this weekend halfway sane.

Renovation Hell III - Evil never sleeps - Finale
It's almost done.
It took more than two years but the apartment is now fully renovated. I still can't quite believe it. If I had known what this whole procedure would entail, I probably wouldn't have even started. Renovating an apartment that you have to live in at the same time is a special kind of torture, especially if you just don't have any space.
Now all that's left is to wait for the couch and bed to arrive and fix some minor things that have popped up during the process.
I had a minot setback today when the sliding door of the dresser proved much harder to fix than estimated. We finally did it but not without the dresser suffering some structural damage. It still holds but will definetely die the next time it's moved.
Oh well.
The apartment is moderately clean again. Couch is scheduled to arrive on tuesday, and the bed will hopefully arrive on friday next week.
Thank you for bearing with me through these trying times and I promise to post pics when everything is done.
Renovation Hell III - Evil never sleeps - Update
The good news: We managed to lay down the laminate today and get the dresser reassembled. The bad news: when everyone was gone the sliding door slipped out and now won't budge. So I can't actually open the dresser or get at anything that's already inside.
Which is a huge problem. I can't realign the doors by myself, they're way too heavy for that. So I'll have to hope that someone will be able to come by tomorrow on short notice to help. Preferably two someones because I really should not do any heavy lifting.
*cries
Back situation is pretty dire. The bandage helped but I still moved around way more today than I should with my back condition and I'm in a world of pain.
The apartment looks very weird without the couch and bed. I can't wait for the new furniture to arrive and everything to go back to normal...
Renovation Hell: Evil Never Sleeps
I just typed out a long post about 'Renovation Hell: Evil Never Sleeps' but Tumblr mobile ate it twice and I just don't have the spoons to retype it again.
Long story short: Room is empty and painted, laminate tomorrow, now I sleep on my matress on the floor which is actually pretty cozy, all things considered.
Painkillers are a godsend. So is the support bandage I ordered last minute for my back.
G'night folks!
