edit: the most difficult thing would be reconciling their personalities which are obv pr different, and also figuring out precisely how the melisenda/amia relationships would fit in, but their trajectories are pr similar -- both in the north at the same time w similar goals, both deciding to turn and fight in the same way at the same time ++ sybil would deF be the sort to like break out of prison/her family home/whatever and, when she knows she can’t escape the guards, talk rowlin into hiring her as his personal guard which would obv be even MORE upsetting to lucian/renfry if she was supposed to be renfry’s bride hahaha but yeah!! i feel like a sybil wystan/gresilda grancourt plotwise would work

so i was reading through our character arcs tag (particularly [ this ] and [ this ])  anD I saw that renfry is gonna try to take over the north and assassinate lucian and rowlin and that i was thinking lucian might die by fire via the burning of the north (bc he’ll 100% be against that and will def think he still has the ultimate say in the north bc of his entire personality lakjsdfkjds and might try to have rowlin declared insane or whatever and reclaim his regency) and i had some ideas!!  so, we already know the north is playing host to lilla and there’s gonna be a whole rebellion w her at its center ++ there’s the whole ~burning of the north~ thing so...lots of chaos coming up north hahaha

so, i was thinking of a couple different possibilities!!

renfry learns of lucian’s regency plans and uses them against him, telling rowlin about how lucian is plotting his own restoration, getting rowlin to take down lucian ~for him and so rowlin offers him to the flames or whatever?? (and then renfry possibly offs rowlin???)

if rowlin supports lilla (lucian is 100% the old ways and is like SHOW ME HER ARRINGTON BLOOD AND I SHALL BEND THE KNEE) so maybe rowlin executes lucian on the grounds of treason (aka treason against aalis vymont, queen of aragoth) esp bc lucian would not only NOT support lilla but actively try to take her doWN esp bc he knows how rowena would react!!

also, we had some other ideas that could come together nicely!!

you were thinking that rowlin is either offed by his enemies or given to the flames, himself

you were thinking that sysley dies helping the resistance and/or poisoning one of her enemies but either way, she does this knowing it will be her own doom

you were also thinking that renfry ~does become ruler of the north asp but doesn’t hold his seat long before he, too, dies

lauren and i had also plotted that, asp, avelina and lynessa go north - under the pretense of inspecting lynessa’s northern properties, etc - but mostly to 1) garner support in the north 2) deal w jesper

so!!  i can see where, instead of throwing in w lilla, the north might be throwing in w lynessa/arthur (in which case, lucian would be all for it and he might be executed on the grounds of helping lynessa rather than stopping lilla, but same ultimate deal for him), although as i said...somewhere, i can see lynessa ultimately gathering the remnants of lilla’s rebellion under her own banner, offering them the chance to overthrow rowena, etc., but only after they’ve run their course - she might even help foment the rebellion - bc she wants rowena distracted w that ++ she wants to see how that goes as a good test run, ++ wants rowena weakened, having just fought a war, etc...it’s a whOLe thing alksdjfkljdsf

OR maybe lynessa only accidentally gets them to throw in w lilla bc she’s all like ‘wouldn’t you love to have a different queen, hm?’ and then, before she can do anything, lilla sweeps in and they’re like ‘hey yeah lynessa was right and look here’s a queen!!’ #oops

anyway, so i do think it’s possibly jesper takes lilla somewhere else - say, the west (although the south would be the most logical place - maybe he ends up in the west on his way south and ends up declaring there for some reason like maybe rowena’s in the south or there’s a storm that prevents him going any further or smth idk), bc the west has the least going on hahaha since the north is so arrington-centric and the south so godiva-centric - but it could also work great to leave that all in the north bc it does tie in - and the lilla thing does at least ~start in the north since that’s where she’s living!  and that would be a smart place to do it bc i ~do think its basically the hardest place to besiege (w the west probs being the second bc of its crags etc???) bc its all uphill and snowy - i feel like maybe in some ways its like invading russia in winter hahaha

oh, or maybe jesper takes lilla to the west bc that’s where vysova is and there’s the whole ‘princess of vysova’/prince of wales thing or smth or bc the traditional seat of raimbeaucourt is there and he wants clear godiva associations w her or smth idk but i can also potentially see them ending up in the south asp or just plain staying in the north or going east who knows im down for wahtever!!
