#rendang mutton

Brunch came from the hole in the wall Economy Rice (菜饭) stall in Chong Pang Food Centre. The floor area is so small, there are barely any standing space to squeeze in two people - a cook cum server and a server. While the variety isn’t a lot, it does have one dish that many Chinese operated food stalls don’t have. That dish is rendang mutton 🐑 and the stall sells it much cheaper than any Muslim food stalls. I also love the freshly fried chicken drumstick 🍗 which is always hot due to many customers buying it.

From the hole in the wall store located in Chong Pang Food Centre came this takeaway box of Economy Rice (菜饭). Their portions are big, yet the price is reasonable. Mum selected for me the spicy rendang mutton, a big fat fried chicken drumstick 🍗 and wholesome stewed mushrooms 🍄‍🟫 to go with the steamed rice. 🍚

Mum bought herself a takeaway bowl of Braised Duck Porridge (卤鸭粥) or congee from her morning trip to the market. It only comes with braised duck meat and peanuts plus the braising gravy to go with the congee.

After mum had done her marketing and eaten breakfast, she bought me Economy Rice (菜饭) from the hole in the wall stall in Chong Pang Food Centre. The stall’s popular fried chicken drumstick, omelette or maybe half beaten eggs and their sedap (Malay for delicious) rendang mutton. Their fried chicken 🍗 is warm as many customers are buying it so a new batch is always cooking in the wok. Love their slow-cooked, spicy dry curry mutton 🐑 simmered in a rich and fragrant blend of spices and coconut 🥥 milk until the liquid is absorbed and the meat is incredibly tender and flavourful.

These are the standard dishes mum chose for me when she bought my Economy Rice (菜饭) brunch from this hole-in-the-wall stall located inside Chong Pang Food Centre. A large eye-catching fried chicken drumstick 🍗 took up lengthwise of the styrofoam box with rendang mutton, omelette 🍳 and white rice completing the meal.

From my favourite hole in the wall economy rice stall in Chong Pang Food Centre came this box of Economy Rice (菜饭). Mum chose a fried chicken drumstick, rendang mutton, stewed mushrooms and a fried egg for my brunch. I love all the dishes she had picked which suits my palate.

This morning Brunch is from the hole in the wall economy rice stall located in Chong Pang Food Centre. Squeezed into the Styrofoam box is a big fat fried chicken drumstick that is still warm and crispy. At the front on the left is onion omelette with a dish of spicy rendang mutton to the right.

Brunch is two chickens and a lamb with the fried chicken drumstick occupying lengthwise of the box. Above it, a fried egg with rendang mutton to the right. This is the typically combination of dishes mum usually gets for me from this economy rice stall.
