AU: Peter is discovered not to be dead earlier than expected--and
must run for his life as his two best friends hunt him down with a
deadly vengence. Rules: Peter must die by the end of the drabble.
Running. That's what Peter had been doing his whole life. Whether he be running from his fears, himself, the people around him, he'd always been running. When he was nine and the kids followed him home from muggle school and started to pick on him, circling him, Peter had ran from them. When Peter was eleven and in his first year at Hogwarts, he ran until he found a wall to hide behind. That wall became known as the Marauders.
Now that wall was hunting him, trying to kill Peter.
It had started when they were twenty one. Peter had slipped up, leaving clues for Padfoot and Moony. Prongs would have picked up on them as well but he was gone, buried beneath the hard, solid ground. There was no meaning of slipping up but it'd just happened, small mistakes leading to larger ones. Maybe it was the fact that someone had found the Map and word had gotten back to the two remaining walls.
It'd started in Scotland. Peter was living in a small hole in the wall in an apartment, stealing scraps that had dropped off the table. He had learned to sneak around easily, making himself unheard and unseen as he moved about the apartment. He'd grown fond of the young boys that lived there. The last name sounding familiar but the name slipped from his mind until it was gone completely. Eventually he had to leave because one of the young boys had found him, showing him to his mummy. Once she saw the rat, Peter ran for his life, barely missing the fly swatter as it came down on his tail, causing him to squeak before he was gone from the house.
After several more houses and close calls, Peter found himself walking the streets of a town in London. He'd managed to hide for this long until he heard the familiar voices behind him. He froze, hiding behind the trash listening to their conversation before the voices faded away all together. It was a close call and eventually, Peter made his way through the city again.
Each time he ran into Padfoot and Moony, it was a closer call than the last. They had caught sight of him more than once before he managed to slip away into the night. It was getting to the point where Peter couldn't stay in a place for more than a night or two, three at the most and even then he was nervous about staying in them for that long.
The wall collapsed a year later.
A year of running from his two best mates, several fights between the three of them, somethings just even two, it all came to an end in a forest where Padfoot had sniffed him out, trapping Peter against a tree were he was forced to take his human form. Words were exchanged, accusations made as they yelled at each other. Spells damaged the ground, the trees, each other but it wasn't until the final one was casted did it finally end. No one knows who gave the final blow but no one cared because revenge was taken, everything had ended but it didn't make everything last.
A year to the day after the Potters were murdered, Peter Pettigrew died at the hands of his best mates. The wall he kept to guard himself from everything else had turned against him and crushed him beneath their rubble.
