Ketika aku menginjak usia belasan yang kala itu tengah menempuh pendidikan di jenjang sekolah menengah pertama dan aku memilih untuk menempuh pendidikan di Madrasah Tsanawiyah yang tidak hanya terfokus pada ilmu umum saja, tetapi juga terfokus pada ilmu agama. Kala itu pun aku masih tinggal dengan nenek dan kedua orang tua ku, sedangkan kakak ku telah berada di pesantren kala itu. Saat itu, nenek ku masih gemar memasak karena tubuhnya masih bugar dan juga sehat untuk melakukan berbagai aktivitas. Dari banyaknya masakan yang telah nenek masak, masakan nenek yang paling ku rindukan adalah tumis bunga pepaya dan tumis bunga turi. Mungkin kedua masakan itu terkesan begitu sederhana, akan tetapi tidak semua orang dapat memasaknya. Ketika nenek ku pertama kali memasak kedua makanan tersebut, aku sempat berpikir : "Apakah makanan ini rasanya lezat dan tidak pahit?" Kemudian nenek ku menjawab : "Ini nggak pahit dan enak, coba makan sana". Lalu aku pun mencoba makanan tersebut, dan perkataan nenek ku benar adanya, keduanya terasa lezat. Namun kini, nenek ku yang tubuhnya sudah mulai renta dan tidak sebugar dulu sudah tidak bisa memasak lagi. Terkadang aku sangat merindukan cita rasa masakan nenek ku dan rindu pula untuk mengingat pertama kalinya aku mencoba itu. Bahkan terkadang untuk mengenang rasa itu kembali, aku memesan masakan yang sama, akan tetapi rasanya begitu jauh dengan masakan nenek ku. Ternyata cita rasa akan masakan nenek ku tidak ada satupun orang yang dapat menandinginya.
