Okay. Infodump time. Ray has talked before about not wanting to overpower a song with solos, and on rtl, after getting out of mcr after 10 years, he wanted to step away from guitar solos and showcase his other skills, like string and keyboard arrangements, writing drum tracks, music production. the fact that the album is so rounded and rich instrumentally means the onus isn't on ray to shred. he does shred!! but it reminds me of his summertime solo more than anything - so so so so full of love and emotion despite relative simplicity. He DOES have some complex stuff, but the title track is a great example of a few notes can played at a specific time with So Much Emotion it bleeds through the strings into your ears and make you collapse to the ground. truly fucked up of him I gotta eat rocks.
