#release date speculation

We learned that foreign publishers got the drafts in may 19. So lets take that as acotar 6-7 finish date.

If sarah started acotar 8 draft as soon as acotar 6-7 edits are done.

2-3 months of drafting = july - august

9-10 edits = may-june

That puts us in the same timeline next year 2027.

Acotar 6-7 were announced in march.

So we can get acotar 8 announcement in march 2027.

But I can also guess they would want to promote it with acotar 7 to make it sure the readers know "this is not the end" so I can guess close to acotar 7 date we might get a release date for acotar 8.

And release date could be like acotar 6 and it would be october 2027.

November 3/6/26

December 25/31

I personally think that we'll get a TFS release date in July and we'll get S6 in November. S7 possibly in either December or later.

Ugh you are right; if it was may 27 they prob could have gotten away with saying spring 2022. I found that quote again that def seemed to be referring to ST and it is weird that they’d be missing the Emmy deadline with it.

Previous talk from A Song of Ice and Fire’s publishers and George R. R. Martin himself hinted at a 2016 or 2017 release date for The Winds of Winter, a book that’s been worked on longer than the Bible, but the latest nugget of information suggests early 2016 at the latest.

Polish website PIESN LODU I OGNIA, reports the following about a translator:

'Michał Jakuszewski confirmed that he was asked by the Zysk publishing house to save his time by the end of the year for translating the Winds of Winter, and although the translator seemed to be a bit skeptical about this news, it is undoubtedly a glimmer of hope for many of us.'

The news suggest the wheels are at least in motion on the book, with it presumably being pretty much done by now if it is to be sent to international translators before the year is through.

Publishing and launch campaign would then follow, but it puts the book on course for 2016 - possibly in time for the arrival of Game of Thrones season 6 in April, as Martin had previously hoped.

Announcement of the book's publication date will eventually come through Martin's LiveJournal site.

To say The Winds of Winter has been a long time coming is putting it lightly, the author once said he hoped to have the ASOIAF saga finished by 1998.
