#rejection fears

Example: my sister lent me a can of chalkboard paint and a brush yesterday, but as I was busy washing dishes, I didn’t notice when she laid them down that she had just used the items and the brush was wet with paint. So today, my sister called and asked if I’d finished, and then chewed me out when I said I didn’t do anything at all, because she was worried the brush was ruined after sitting all night with paint drying on it.

Now, maybe a ruined brush isn’t that big a deal normally, but it was a nice one she’d brought from the States, and that we cannot replace down here in South America. So while it stung to be chewed out, I understood where she was coming from.

So what did I do?

I filled my sink with warm water, soaked the brush for 30 minutes, and then wiped off EACH. INDIVIDUAL. BRISTLE. ONE BY ONE. It took me three straight hours of working as fast as I could. But I’ll be damned if that brush doesn’t look like new now.
