Drew Reizo in as Zagreus, with some Wolfkin aesthetics of course. He has similar familial issues so I wanted to draw him like this, but sadly he died before he could find out about the skeleton in the closet.

Hmm lets see, random facts… I’m going to write some facts about the fam in my modern au bc i think i’ve never done this before!!!

Modern au headcanons:

In the narutoverse the Hoshigaki are “shark-like” ninjas with water jutsus, that live in the water country in an island in the middle of the ocean etc etc

So in my modern au I wanted them to have a deep connection with the ocean too. That’s why Kisame’s parents are of polynesian descent. 

Usually I don’t focus my modern au in specific real life locations, but I get inspired by them and their cultures. So depending on the modern au, Kisame might be hawaiian, samoan, or just be of polynesian descent but have been raised in a country far away from the Pacific. 

This being said, I hc them loving the ocean and the marine life. They love going to the beach to surf or do snorkel, and also going to the local aquarium to see the rescued sharks (and dream about petting them).

Depending on the au, the Hoshigaki will have a house in the seaside or live in the city but spend the weekends in their beach hutt.

For example, in one au Kisame’s parents, Kasumi and Reizo, manage a local in the beach that has a restaurant and a surf academy. They love to teach the visitors about the wonders of the marine wildlife and why is it important to preserve their habitats. Souta, Youta and Tsunami work there in the weekends and summer, and Kisame used to as well but once he became a marine biologist he started to work in the rescued sharks program of the aquarium. Though he goes to his parent’s to help them whenever he can.  

Sometimes I hc that Kisame went to the big city to get his career and that his family lives in the coast, far away from him. So he spends all his time in his shared flat with the akatsuki and visit his parents from time to time.

Kasumi and Reizo will always have a place in their home for their kids and all their friends, so you can imagine that more often than not kisame brings the akatsuki with him when he visits his family.

Souta and Youta love to have a simple life. If it were for them they will spend their whole life in the beach surfing, swimming, exploring the reefs, playing volley, sailing… they have no interest in leaving the shore so they work as life guards, watersports instructors or in their parent’s business. 

Tsunami is a bit more adventurous than her brothers, and always has admired and mimicked her big bro Kisame. She has a degree in marine biology but unlike Kisame who stays in the aquarium, she works as a coast guard hunting the poachers that endanger “her” coast.
